Pulling up to the party was a sight all on its own. The mansion was the largest house I had ever seen in person and every inch was decorated in Christmas lights. The long walkway that led to the double doors was lit with candy canes. People in over-the-top attire were walking up the pathway into the home. Security stood at the beginning of the walk and at the doors to get in.

Colton helped each of us down and presented his elbows to escort us both toward the party that was underway.

"Hey Kels," The security guard greeted us as we approached.

"Sup, Linus?" He nodded his head toward him as he spoke.

I turned to Lorelei and stifled a laugh at his gentle name for such an intimidating man. He was bald, muscular, and had to be close to seven feet tall. Black tattoos crept up his uniform onto his neck.

Past Linus, and through the double doors we entered a winter wonderland. The house was covered in faux snow, real pine trees stood in corners completely decorated and reached the high ceilings. I looked around in amazement. The rooms were already filled with people laughing and sipping on drinks that were being brought around on trays.

"Martini, ladies?" A server stopped to offer Lorelei and me his festive drink. The martini glass was rimmed with sugar and crushed candy canes.

Lorelei took one happily, but I couldn't resist asking, "What's in this?"

The server seemed pleased to answer my question, "Vodka, Creme de Menthe, Chambord, a touch of simple syrup and just a drop of peppermint oil." He explained, and he leaned in proudly to say, "It's my own recipe."

I took one of the drinks, smiling "It sounds lovely. Thank you."

He bowed a tiny bit and moved on.

I took a tiny sip, and the cool peppermint rolled over my tongue with an after taste of the raspberry liquor. It perfectly hid the flavor of vodka which typically made me gag.

Colton guided us through the party, greeting fellow artists, and introducing myself and Lorelei. Every time he'd say: this is my girlfriend Luna my heart would jump. Lorelei excused herself, wanting to wander and mingle.

"There's someone I want you to meet." Colton leaned down to say, and led me forward.

"Colson," a smooth voice greeted, using his actual name.

I turned to see Shawn John, a famous rapper who had built his empire in the early 90s before starting a record label of his own. He took Colson's hand into his and placed the other on top as he shook.

"Hey Shawn!" he greeted. He smiled, but I could feel his nerves return. Is this why he was so nervous in the car?

"And who is this gorgeous woman I assume is too good for you?" He turned his attention to me and I blushed at his compliment.

"This is my girlfriend Luna, who is most certainly too good for me." Colson introduced.

Shawn took my hand in his, clamping mine between his two as he spoke. "Delighted to meet you, Luna."

"A pleasure to meet you too." I smiled, realizing I had put on my customer service voice.

Colson was eager to steer the conversation. "I wanted a chance to speak with you about this whole Eminaem situation." Colson leaned in to speak quietly.

Shawn's perfect host demeanor shifted at Colson's words. The smile fell ever so slightly from his composed face, but only for a moment. He recovered with a general statement, "That can wait. This is a party!" He threw his hands in the air to emphasize the room around him.
