"I ended it." I announced when Lorelei opened her apartment door. I had come straight from my flight, calling her on the way over telling her everything. She let me collapse in her arms, as the anger turned to tears.

Pulling me inside she sat me on the couch and spoke softly, "I'm proud of you."

"You are?" I wiped my eyes.

"Yeah, Luna. It sounds like he's only gotten worse since you asked him to slow down. I love him, too, but I've watched you slowly degrade around him in dealing with this."

I nodded. "It had to be done. It had to be done."

"Let's have some wine, and watch Say Anything." she offered.

I laughed, she hated eighties movies, but she knew I love them, especially Llyod Dobler. I idolized his devotion to Diane Court. That was my idea of true love.

I nodded in agreement, and grabbed the remote to turn the movie on. She hopped off the couch and poured us glasses of Chardonnay, bringing the bottle back with her.

I cried myself to sleep on her couch that night. I wanted so badly to save him from himself. But that's not what he wanted at all. So it was time that I saved myself.

When I awoke, mascara was caked under my tear-stained eyes. I groaned reaching for the facial cleanser in the shower and washing the remnants off. A clean face, a clean slate. Checking my phone I saw several missed calls from Colson and seven texts that read:

Luna, I'm not even positive I saw you last night. I feel sick to my stomach.

I wish I could erase the mistake I made. I'm sorry.

I did it to myself though, so go ahead and blame this on me.

I know it's shitty how I waste love.

I love you.

I erased them all without responding. I needed to go cold turkey. I made the final decision to block his number.

I fell back into the couch, holding my face in my hands. My chest tightened, as a sob erupted.

"Hey, let's go get some breakfast" Lorelei said softly, sitting next to me so she could put an arm around my shoulders to comfort me.

I nodded "And mimosas."

"Well obviously." She wiped a tear from my eye, "Why else eat breakfast out," she responded, pulling me up from the couch.

We went to our favorite spot in Lynnfield Market place called Gaslight for their bottomless mimosas and extensive brunch menu.

"You look like hell," Lorelei commented as we sat.

"So I look as good as I feel," I replied, picking up the menu.

The waitress came to greet us and took our drink order,

"Bottomless Mimosas, please." I ordered.

"And keep the glasses of water coming." Lorelei added.

"It hurts Lorelei," I said softly when the waitress departed, "It's like my heart has been violently pulled out of chest. Like a zombie attack straight of the Walking Dead."

She smiled slightly at my reference, "I know. This one is gonna take some time. We just have to keep you busy."

I nodded, "Extremely busy. I'm going to need to pick up a new hobby. Like knitting."

"You can't be trusted with those sharp needles." Lorelei teased.

We ordered omelets with extra cheese, Lorelei insisted the added gooeyness would ease a broken heart.
