We slept well into the morning, when I finally opened my eyes, I checked the clock on the nightstand to see it was eleven-thirty. Colson groaned as I climbed out from under him, wanting to make us coffee.
Eyes closed, he slapped his hand over the spot I once was, "Where'd you go?" he mumbled.
"Coffee, baby," I responded.
"Mmm, hell, yeah," he said into the pillow.
The hotel used a Kerig, so I placed the tiny pod into its deisignated slot and pulled down the handle. Bubbling could be heard as the water heated, and soon there was a steady pour. I brought the mug over to Colson, he slid up on the headboard for support and took a long sip of his coffee.
"Only one thing missing," he commented as the cup left his lips.
"What's that?" I asked, as I returned to the machine to make my own cup.
He reached over for his wallet and found a pre-rolled joint tucked nicely into the fold.
"Gift from Posty," he smiled bringing it to his lips and lighting the end of it.
I smirked at his boyish delight, and took a long sip draining half the cup.
"I'm gonna take a shower," I announced.
"Mmm, I'll join you after this," he said between puffs.
I turned the knob until the water steamed, stepping in carefully. The powerful water pressure went to work relaxing my muscles. My feet were throbbing from being in such high heels all night. Through the bathroom door, I heard a knock and the squeek of the mattress as Colson stood to answer it.
Lorelei's voice filled the room, "Good morning! Oh, yes I'd love some." I could hear Colson offering her the joint. She sounded very cheery this morning.
Finishing my routine, I wrapped a towel around me, and reentered the room.
"Nice night?" I asked, using a second towel to pat my hair dry.
"Spectacular!" she responded, the smoke leaving her mouth as she spoke.
I dressed quickly in a pair of jeans, and stealing one of Colson's pull over sweatshirts that read Supreme.
"Okay ladies, I gotta get to the venue," Colson spoke up, moving to the dresser to change.
"That looks good on you." he smiled, tugging at the hem of his sweatshirt.
My cheeks grew warm at his comment. He found a black t-shirt that hugged the muscled of his chest and scooped to reveal the inked skin, and dark denim. Searching the room, he found his black leather jacket on the back of an armchair, and pair of Converse to complete his look.
"What no comb to grease your hair back? Lorelie teased.
Colson looked into the mirror hanging above the desk, racking his fingers through his blonde waves and said, "Nah, looks good."
"See you, ladies, later. Log in to the app with my info to order a car." He instructed, kissing me on the cheek before he left.
Lorelei and I decided to kill time by walking around the city, stopping for a place to eat lunch. We both decided on sandwiches to help soak up the alcohol that lingered in our stomachs.
"And then we do it all again tonight!" Lorelei proclaimed, sipping her Diet Coke.
"Ugh, I don't know how he lives like this! It's draining as hell," I whined.
"I'd kill to live like this," Lorelei continued.
"It's gonna kill him," I grumbled.
My chest hurt at my words. Too real. Buried in my heart was the all-consuming dread of how he lived and the longevity of it all. Not wanting to bring the mood down any further I changed the subject to ask what Lorelei planned on wearing for the concert.
