A few days later, I met Lorelei at a local nail salon called Flawless Nails and joined her for a manicure.

"I have to tell you something." I started as the nail technician held my right hand, filing.

"Jaxon proposed!" she burst out.

I was stunned. I was not planning on leading with that bit of information. I actually had no intention of bringing it up at all. It felt like a small punch in the sternum to think about it.

"Um. Well yes." I agreed, "But I said, no."

She looked even happier at that news and asked "Is that because?"

I smiled and that's all the answer she needed. She screamed in delight, scaring the two technicians that worked on us.

"I'm sorry" I mouthed to the women performing our service, as Lorelei threw her arms around my neck.

"Okay." She released me, "Tell me everything."

And I did. Starting now at the dinner with Jaxson where he proposed, my visit to California with Colson, ending with my final moments with Jaxson.

"Screw him!" she waved a hand, brushing off my feelings of being an asshole. "You're in love, Luna. It needed to be done."

I nodded, still wishing it had happened in a better way. He deserved better than that. Sweet Jaxson. He wanted a simple quiet life, with a content housewife and I wasn't her. I had dreams of my success in the beauty industry. I wanted to travel to Paris and attend the world rebounded skincare convention. I wanted to attend the week long Riot Festival with Lorelei that had a lineup with all of our prime favorite bands. I wasn't ready to settle down in any part of the word. But I knew that the proposal had brought forth a deeper truth, that I had always and will always love Colson.

"So what now?" she asked.

"Hm? What do you mean?" I replied, not knowing where she was going with her question.

"I mean you guys can't keep doing a cross country relationship." She stated it like it was obvious.

"Oh. I don't know, I hadn't thought about it yet." I admitted.

"You have to move there." She answered her own question for me.

"How can I possibly do that!" I cried.

"We take the leap. We finally start our wellness center, on the West Coast."

I titled my head considering this. A little perfectly clean, crisp white salon with an open concept because of the beautiful weather of Los Angeles. The scent of the ocean wafting in, greeting my clients and cooling off Lorelei's.

"I can see you picturing it!" Lorelei squealed.

"I really can." I admitted.

"I'll start looking for a realtor!" She said, "You look for the apartment."

I sat there happily stunned. She's right. She's absolutely right. We can do this! I started to picture my life there with my sister and our business. My life with Colson. No more red-eye flights. No more feeling like social media was our connection to each other when not on FaceTime.

"That stupid smile means you're in." Lorelei teased.

And I was.
