I could barely sleep that night, thinking of being in Colson's arms again. I smiled into my pillow, remembering the way his arms wrapped around me and the strength of him crushing me into his body. When sleep found me, I dreamed of blue eyes and tousled bed hair.
The morning dragged. I tried to sleep in to kill some of the time, but once my mind registered the sun had risen on the day I'd be able to see Colson, I was up. I did yoga in my living room, playing some YouTube channel Loreili suggested. Made a big breakfast, showered, styled my hair, chose my outfit and applied a little makeup so by the time it was half past two, I was jumping out of my skin.
I watched out my living room window for that SUV that had come for me before. When I spotted it, I jumped in excitement and turned toward the door. Tripping over my ottoman, I commanded myself to chill out. Moving slower now, I grabbed my keys and purse and headed downstairs. Marcus greeted me as I walked down the front steps. How nice it must be to have a driver on call on the other side of the country, I marveled.
"You'll need to head back up and pack an overnight bag, I'm afraid," Marcus informed me.
"A bag?" I repeated. An overnight bag? So Colson and I would be spending the night together? A tingle shot throughout my body at the thought. A naked Colson was really a sight to behold and it was about damn time I got to bare witness in person.
"Overnight, yes Miss. Mr. Baker instructed me to make sure you did this. He regretfully forgot to mention it himself at your last speaking," he explained.
"Where is he taking me that we'll be spending the night?" I asked.
He shook his head with a sly smile. "I was instructed not to say."
Of course he was, I was slightly annoyed, but I had to admit it spiked my curiosity around the evening.
I turned back to my apartment building, and ran up the stairs, only slightly stumbling up them. I threw in an overnight bag whatever was clean, too excited thinking about being reunited with Colson to care what clothes I could possibly be missing. Within several minutes I was back in the car.
"All packed!" I said, showing him my bag as he held the door open for me.
"Very good, Miss," he replied, grinning at my obvious pride around the ability to put clothes in a duffle bag.
I was slightly disappointed to find Colson wasn't in the back seat to surprise me as he had on our first date. I watched out the window as we drove, letting my imagination run wild with what could be to come. Maybe we'd spend the night in another hotel? Maybe he found one with a heated pool. Or we could be going to a show of one of his friends? And get to mosh together in the crowd for a change. I made a mental note to plan to see shows with Colson, that sounded like a blast! Singing along to the music we love, bouncing with strangers who we're doing the same. Off the highway, I finally began recognizing the buildings as Boston came into view and then Logan Airport in the distance.
"Am I taking a flight?" I asked.
We didn't park where I would have expected, driving past overnight parking and past the section for drop off. Instead we circled around toward the back arriving at a loading dock with a jet waiting. Marcus stepped out of the car without responding.
"I'll escort you to his jet," he explained, opening my door to take my bag and helping me down from the SUV.
"His what?" I asked, following behind.
Lorelei was right. A private jet awaited me. No way. I stared up at the massive machine and wondered how something like that could be privately owned. I stepped up the stairs carefully, my eyes not wanting to miss anything and slightly worried I would trip.
