Annabeth was having a bad day.

First, Percy had gotten sent on a quest a few weeks ago along with Leo and Clarisse, and he wasn't coming back until Gods knew when.

Then, Mrs. O'Leary had decided that she wanted to play with Annabeth's paperwork, and OF COURSE she HAD to ran off to the woods once the blonde had started chasing her.

And lastly, once Annabeth had reached her, she noticed that the paper didn't look like paper anymore. It was more like a slimy disaster. Nico wouldn't stop apologizing for the mess his dog had made.

Annabeth told him that it was ok. That he didn't need to worry and that she would do it again. Nico nodded and walked away just because he knew that if he stayed five more seconds, Annabeth would absolutely murder him herself.

Annabeth was NOT okay.

She was at the verge of tears. Something really rare. She felt frustrated and tired. She didn't even know why she wanted to cry. Maybe her period was starting soon.

Anyways, she just wanted to be ALONE. So she started walking without going somewhere, really. Or so she thought, because in a blink, she was staring at the sea in front of her. Her feet being tickled by the sand and her hair being moved by the fresh breeze.

The smell of the sea made the image of Percy pop in her head immediately and soon enough her eyes were covered in tears.

"I miss you, Perce". She whispered. She really, really did. She just wanted to hug him and feel his steady heart beat against her ear. She wanted him to run his hands through her hair like he would do every time she dreamt about Tartarus and to tell her everything was going to be ok.

As if on cue, something bumped against her left foot: a sea shell. Annabeth furrowed her brows and picked it up.

It was a pretty aquamarine color and it was perfectly shaped. It was not bigger than her hand and when she turned it around, she almost bursted into tears again. It said:

'I love you.'

Annabeth held the shell close to her chest, eyes still watery and a soft smile placed in her face.

"I love you too."
