Once upon a time, in the land of Miryam, there lived a young queen, who had longed to have a child but could not.
One day, as she was sewing by the window, where the snow was falling, she pricked her finger, and three drops of blood fell upon the snow.
Because the blood looked so beautiful upon the snow, the queen thought, "if only I had a child with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony."
Finally, her wish came true, and she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and named her Snow White. Sadly, after the child was born, the queen died.
Years later, the king married again, though the new queen was beautiful, she was cruel and heinous, and could not stand anyone being more beautiful than her.
Everyday, the queen stands before her magic mirror, and asks it, "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all."
And the mirror answered, "you, my queen, are the fairest of all."
Many years passed, and Snow White grew more and more beautiful. By the time she was 10 years old, she became even more beautiful than the queen herself.
When the queen heard rumors of Snow White's beauty, she went straight to her mirror and asked, "mirror mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
The mirror gave a different answer, "you, my queen, are very fair, it's true, but Snow White is even more fairer than you."
This made the queen very angry, and from that moment, she hated the princess with everything she had.
Eventually, the queen couldn't stand the girl so much, that she called for her huntsman.
"My huntsman." She said. "Have you seen my stepdaughter, Snow White?"
"Yes, my queen." The huntsman said. "She is a beautiful young girl, so sweet and innocent."
"I'm glad to hear, because I have a job for you. You must take the girl into the forest and kill her!"
When the huntsman heard what the queen ordered him, he fell to his knees and wept.
"My queen, I shall not take the life of Snow White. She is too innocent to die."
"You refuse your queen?" She asked.
"Please don't let me kill her." He begged. "She must live."
The queen would usually kill her subjects if they refused her commands, but she let him go.
"Leave, and do not come back until you answer a command again."
The queen decided it was best for her to do it herself.
She took the hand of the princess and forced her to stand in front of her mirror.
"Stepmother, why am I in front of your mirror?"
"My dear princess." She said. "I'm afraid your no longer allowed to be here. You must go through this mirror and never return, and bring this blue ribbon with you. If it doesn't return, I will know that I'll never see you again."
The girl left like she had no choice but to go through the mirror.
And she did.
