Later that evening, the Hobbits returned home to find Snow White lying on the floor appearing to be dead. Frodo rushed to the girls side, while everyone looked on.
"Snow, can you hear me? Wake, my dear Snow."
Sam knelt next to his master.
"What has happened, Mr. Frodo?"
"I don't know, Sam."
Merry and Pippin got closer, while Rosie stayed by Bilbo's side.
Suddenly, Sam spotted something.
"Look, Mr. Frodo! Snow White's wearing a blue ribbon."
He felt how tight the ribbon was, and Frodo saw it as well.
"Merry! Pippin! Get the scissors!"
Panicking, the two Hobbits grabbed the scissors and handed it to Sam, and he cut the ribbon off of Snow White.
After he did, the girl started breathing again, and opened her eyes. Frodo was so happy.
"Snow White! You're alive!"
"W-What happened?"
"That's what we're wondering." Sam said.
"The last thing I remember is that old Hobbit woman giving me that blue ribbon. She tied it to tight that I couldn't breathe anymore."
Pippin jumped with fear.
"That was the evil queen!"
"You must be careful for strangers, dear one." Bilbo said.
"Uncle's right." Frodo added. "The queen now knows you are here. When we're gone, keep the door locked and don't let anyone in."
The princess smiled.
"Of course, my dear Frodo."
The Hobbit blushed, then helped the girl to her feet.
"Come, Snow, let us spend some time with you."
Frodo took the princess's hand and led her into the dining room, followed by Sam, Rosie, Merry, and Pippin, while Bilbo went to the study.
Meanwhile, the queen, thinking Snow White was dead, went to her magic mirror and asked, "mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
And the mirror answered, "you, my queen, are very fair, it's true, but Snow White, living with the Hobbits of the Shire, is even more fairer than you."
The queen shook with anger, realizing that the princess was still alive.
"I must think of a new plan that will kill her, and shall not fail this time!"
Disguising herself as a different old Hobbit woman, she used witchcraft to create a poisoned comb, then she went through the portal, back into the Shire.
The next morning, the Hobbits came outside of Bag End preparing to leave for work, when they once again warned Snow White.
"Remember, Snow, be on your guard." Frodo said. "Don't let anyone in while we're away."
"The queen might come back." Pippin said. "You must be careful."
"You don't have to worry, I will remember."
The princess waved goodbye and went back inside the house, locking the door behind her, and that's when the queen made her move.
She went to the house and knocked on the door, saying, "beautiful wears for lovely hair!"
The girl peaked her head out the door.
"I'm sorry, kind woman, I'm not allowed to let anyone into the house."
"That doesn't mean you don't have to look."
The old woman held out the poisoned comb, which caught the eye of the princess.
"What a lovely comb." She said.
"Let me in and I'll show it to you." Pleaded the old woman.
"I'm sorry, but I cannot let you in. The Hobbits have forbidden me."
"Well then, open the door just a crack, and I shall comb your hair properly."
Snow White, seeing no harm, turned around before the old woman and allowed her to comb her hair.
But when the comb barely touched her hair, the poison took effect, and the girl fell down, senseless.
The queen looked upon her.
"You used to be the most beautiful in the land, now this finishes you at last!"
Thinking she had finally killed the princess, the queen fled, going back through the portal.
