Chapter 15

"Coming!" Chan yelled and rushed to open the door. He didn't expect to see a crying Kwan when he opened it. Before he could say anything, he was already hugging a sobbing Kwan on his chest. He didn't say anything, he knew when not to. He just rubbed Kwan's back and pulled him inside the house gently as he cried.

"Who's at the— oh..." Donghun sat beside them and helped to comfort Kwan. He didn't say anything either, knowing it wasn't the right time.

Kwan just sobbed on Chan's chest, letting all his feelings out. Chan had never seen Byeongkwan like this. Sure, he had seen him cry, but not with the feeling he was right now. He was letting out his stress, sadness, anger, insecurity even. Kwan had reached his breaking point.

After what felt like a half an hour of crying and silence, Kwan sniffed and pulled away from Chan's chest. He wiped his eyes and Donghun handed him a tissue.

"T-thanks..." Kwan let out quietly and took it, wiping his face. He sighed and sat on the floor, looking down.

"Want to stay over? We can help you clear your mind." Chan suggested. He knew Kwan didn't want to tell them why he had gotten like that. At least not now, anyways.

Kwan nodded and sniffed once more. Chan helped him up and took him to his room. He got Kwan some shorts and a shirt he had left from the last time he stayed over and took him to the bathroom.

"If you need anything just yell." Chan smiled slightly and hugged his friend. Kwan hugged him back and nodded before Chan went back to the living room. He got undressed and stepped in the shower. He turned on the hot water and just went in a trance thinking about his conversation with Sehyoon.

"Is he okay?" Donghun asked quietly when Chan came back.

"No, but he doesn't want to talk about it. I know him." Chan replied, sitting beside his boyfriend. Donghun nodded and wrapped an arm around his shoulders, pulling him close.

"Are you okay?" He asked, kissing the top of his head.

"Yeah..." Chan replied quietly.

"Don't lie to me." Donghun whispered and pulled him even closer.

"You know me too well." Chan smiled slightly. "It's just... I've never seen him cry like that."

"How?"

"Like, when you have your feelings all bottled up and you break down when it's too much. Kwan usually talks to me a lot, but lately he justa says he's fine. I'm worried." Chan explained, sighing and burying his face in the elder's chest. Donghun rubbed his back and kissed his head once more.

"Well, maybe he just doesn't know how to express himself... and you can overreact sometimes." Donghun chuckled.

"What's your point, Lee?" Chan asked, using Donghun's last name in a warning way because of the comment.

"I mean that you sometimes are overprotective, which is good, but it may make it hard for him to tell you his feelings since he doesn't know how you'll react." Donghun explained, squeezing Chan's cheeks. "And don't call me Lee."

"You're right." Chan sighed, pushing him away gently. "Don't squeeze my cheeks so hard." He whined.

"I can squeeze another thing." Donghun wiggled his eyebrows and laughed at Chan's gasp.

"Pervert." Chan hit his arm, making Donghun laugh more.

"Love you, too."

"Happy birthday!" Kwan yelled and hugged Chan when he arrived to school. Chan laughed and hugged him back.

"Thanks, Kwan." He replied, smiling. Kwan smiled back and handed Chan his gift. "You didn't." Chan exclaimed when he saw it.

"Oh, I did." Kwan laughed and watched Chan take out the new ATEEZ album.

"Oh my God, thank you!" Chan squealed and hugged Kwan even tighter.

"I knew you would like it." Kwan smiled. They were currently at a school activity even though it was New Year's Eve. The school always held it so students and their families could welcome the New Year in a good environment.

"Have you seen my sexy boyfriend?" Chan asked, looking around for Donghun.

"No, maybe he's late." Kwan replied, holding back a laugh. Donghun was never late, he was just getting everything ready for Chan's surprise. He had asked Kwan to cover for him just ten minutes earlier.

"He's never late, though." Chan pouted and began to open the album, squealing when he saw Jongho's photocard inside.

"Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3... alright, may I have your attention please?" Was heard from the speaker. Chan's eyes widened when he recognized Donghun's voice.

"What is he..." Chan trailed off, listening to his boyfriend's voice when he spoke again.

"I'm Lee Donghun and this message is for my gorgeous boyfriend, Yuchan." Donghun smiled against the mic before continuing. "You may not know, but today is his birthday. Everyone say happy birthday Chan." Then, everyone in the room said happy birthday.

Chan was a smiling mess. "How did you even plan all this?" He said to himself and thanked everyone for the birthday wishes.

"Now, Chan, you know you are the most precious human being to me. You make me smile for hours, you're the most caring person I have ever met and I just love you so, so much. You are amazing in every way and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. That's why I want to ask you something very important."

Chan couldn't contain his tears and was smiling oh so bright. He felt a light tap on his shoulder and he turned around and gasped at what he saw.

How did Donghun get there so quick? He had no idea, but there he was, holding a huge bouquet of red flowers and a big banner behind him that said: "will you go to prom with me?". Chan just threw himself at him, hugging him really tight and everyone clapped when Chan said yes.

Kwan smiled at his friends and cheered for them like everyone else. He knew they would be really happy together.

That's when he noticed someone clapping and smiling at the couple. He shook his head and ignored him when he looked back at him. If there was a way to forget his feelings for Sehyoon...

It was by ignoring his whole existence.
