Chapter 26

The words raced around Kwan's mind at a million miles per hour.

"What do you mean who am I?" Kwan asked softly, keeping himself together. This couldn't be happening.

"I have never seen you before in my life and you were going to take my hand... who are you?" Sehyoon replied, staring at Kwan in confusion. Kwan felt his world crumble all around him. He wasn't acting.

"That's what I was trying to tell you..." Jun spoke softly. "The doctor said he has amnesia..."

Kwan's eyes filled with tears, but he refused to let them out.

"And you?" Sehyoon asked as he looked at Jun. It stung, but Jun kept himself together.

"I'm Junhee." He smiled softly at his friend. "We've been best friends since kindergarten."

"We have? Wow..." Sehyoon stared ahead, as if analyzing what Jun just told him. "Who's he?" He asked once he was out of his trance.

"I'm Byeongkwan..." Kwan said quietly. "Your boyfriend..."

"Boyfriend? I have one?" Sehyoon tilted his head as he asked. Jun nodded at him and patted Kwan's back gently.

"Sehyoon, you have to remember me." Kwan blurted out, catching both Jun and Sehyoon off guard. "Please remember me."

"I... I don't remember you. I'm sorry." Sehyoon said quietly. Kwan was starting to freak out again. Sehyoon had to remember him. He just had to. Before he could say anything else, Jun dragged him outside. Sehyoon just stared at them as they went out.

"I know this is hard, but we have to be careful about what we say to him. We can't force him to remember us either, Kwan. Now, take a deep breath and nod when you're calmer." Jun said as he held Kwan's shoulders. Kwan sighed and did as Jun told. He took a deep breath and nodded at him when he was calm.

"You better not be pulling my leg. He really woke up?" Kwan looked ahead when he heard Chan's voice. Closely behind was Donghun and they both looked tired.

"He did... but he doesn't remember anything." Kwan told them quietly and hugged Chan. He needed it.

"He has amnesia. The doctor said he would get his memory back, but for now we have to be careful about what we say to him." Jun explained with more detail. Both Chan and Donghun nodded.

"You okay to go back?" Chan asked his best friend. Kwan nodded after a few seconds and they all went inside.

Sehyoon looked at the two new faces. He remembered slight details about them, but still didn't know who they were.

"Hey." Donghun and Chan greeted with a smile. Sehyoon just nodded at them unsure. "I'm Donghun and this is my boyfriend, Yuchan."

"Chan for short." Chan smiled slightly. "We're Byeongkwan's best friends."

"Oh, hey." Sehyoon said quietly, still not remembering.

"Do you remember what happened, Sehyoon?" Jun asked.

"Not much... I just remember I was driving somewhere and I was in a car accident. Sorry..." He looked down at his lap after answering. He looked like he was trying to remember.

"Where's my baby? Let me see him!" Was heard from outside before the door swung open. Sehyoon looked at the door and his eyes widened.

"Mom?" He said.

"Sehyoon..." His mom breathed out before rushing to him and wrapping her arms around him in a big hug. Sehyoon hugged back instantly. "I'm so glad you're okay." His mom cried out.

"Mom..." Sehyoon hugged her tighter. She was probably the only person he really remembered.

"I'm here, baby." His mom kissed his head and rubbed his back. "Thank you for keeping me updated, Junhee." She smiled.

"No problem, auntie." Jun smiled back, using his childhood nickname for her.

"How are you feeling?" She asked Sehyoon, but he had fallen asleep. She smiled at him and tucked him in, kissing his head. "Let's let him sleep."

Everyone nodded and made their way out.

"This isn't the right time or place, but I'm Byeongkwan. Sehyoon's boyfriend." Kwan said shyly, sticking his hand out for a handshake. Sehyoon's mom smiled and pulled him into a hug instead.

"So, you're the boy that has my baby's heart." She giggled. "Nice to finally meet you. Thank you for being with him all this time." She said, referring to the five long months Sehyoon was in a coma.

"No need to thank me." He smiled. "I love him... I wouldn't have just left him."

His mom smiled. "Glad to hear that."

Kwan sat in a chair outside, thinking. Sehyoon was still resting so they were all around the hospital. His mom had left for work, but promised she'd be back soon.

"What are you thinking about?" Chan asked as he sat down next to Kwan. He handed him a juice box which Kwan took happily.

"He remembered his mom... but not me." Kwan said and took a sip of juice after sticking the straw in. "I mean it's understandable, but it kind of hurt me." He finished, looking down at the box.

"Hey, don't be harsh on yourself. It's normal to feel shitty." Chan said, rubbing his back. "He'll remember you."

"How do you know?" Kwan asked quietly as he looked at Chan with teary eyes.

"He loves you." Chan answered simply and pulled him into a hug. Kwan hugged him back tightly, letting tears fall. Maybe he would remember him...

But... in how long would he?
