Chapter 24

It felt like forever before the doctor said they could finally see him. Jun and Kwan walked to the room, but didn't go in. Kwan was sure he wouldn't be strong enough to see him in his state. He held onto Jun's arm tightly for reassurance. Jun patted his back slightly before reaching for the handle and opening the door.

"Want to go in first?" He asked Kwan quietly and Kwan thought about it for a minute. He took a deep, shaky breath and stepped inside. His eyes landed on the bed and he stared at Sehyoon's state. He just wanted to cry all over again.

He just laid there, so much machines attached to his body. He had a cast on his right arm and on both ankles, cuts all over his body and his face was all burnt and bruised from the airbag coming out. Kwan couldn't believe this was his boyfriend's state.

"God..." Jun let out once he saw his best friend.

"T-that's not really him, is it?" Kwan choked out. He was about to cry again.

"Byeongkwan..." Kwan didn't look at him. His focus was on Sehyoon's almost dead like body. "That's really him."

Tears slipped through Kwan's cheeks again. He shut his eyes tightly, trying to wake up from this horrible nightmare.

Sadly for them, it wasn't a nightmare. They couldn't wake up from this even if they wanted to. Jun walked over to his friend and sat down at the chair beside him.

"Sehyoon... it's me, Junhee." He started. He had been holding back from crying since he got here at 4:00 am, but he was about to break too. "You have to wake up... you're stronger than this. Show them who's the boss and please... please wake up." He choked out.

When he finished talking, he covered his face and started crying. Kwan had never seen him like that. He walked over and hugged him gently. Jun looked up at him and hugged back, crying even harder. Sehyoon meant so much to both of them... he couldn't leave them now.

Kwan looked up as the doctor walked in. Jun had left a few minutes ago to get them both something to eat. Kwan told him he was fine, but Jun insisted on bringing him something.

"Hello." Kwan greeted, bowing to him. The doctor gave him a small smile.

"You're his partner, right?" Kwan nodded without hesitation.

"Do you have any news?" Kwan asked shyly.

"Well..." The doctor trailed off for a few seconds, getting Kwan worried. What was he about to say? "We found damaged in his spinal end, on his neck."

"What does that mean?" Kwan asked worriedly. He knew it was going to be bad.

"We don't know if he'll wake up." The doctor finally said.

Kwan felt the world crashing around him. He stayed quiet as the words repeated themselves in his mind. Sehyoon may not wake up... he might lose him.

"What?" Kwan finally reacted. He must've heard wrong. He had to misheard.

"It's not certain, but there's possibility life support is what's keeping him alive right now."

"No..." Kwan mumbled and turned to look at Sehyoon. "He has to wake up."

"We have hopes he will. I'm so sorry this happened to him." And with that the doctor left. Kwan just stood there, looking at Sehyoon. He didn't have any tears left so none were spilled right now even if he wanted to.

"Hey, I just saw the doctor leave. Did he say anything?" Jun asked as he walked in with the food.

"He may not wake up..." Kwan mumbled under his breath.

"What?" Jun asked since he didn't hear him. "Byeongkwan, are you okay?"

"H-He may not wake up." Kwan choked out, a knot forming in his throat. Jun just stared at him and then at Sehyoon.

"He will wake up." Jun told Kwan.

"They found d-damage... he may not wake up, Jun!"

"Kwan, calm down... I know this is hard, but I know Sehyoon. He's going to wake up." Jun replied and pulled Kwan into a hug. He was trying to not cry again as he looked at Sehyoon.

He looked so lifeless... he was just laying there, no movement whatsoever.

And there was a possibility he would stay like that forever.
