Chapter 22

Sassy pushed me down to the sand and the sound of gun shots blasted my ears. Everything is blurry since the sand just keeps getting into my eyes.

"Stupid! Why are you aiming for us, too? I'm the one who hired you fucking dickheads!" sigaw ni Paine. But no one listened. A group of people was aiming for us and Magnus' group.

Sassy was covering me as she fire at the men they claimed they hired.

"Fuck!" Weem cussed. Binangon niya ako sa pagkakadapa sa lupa at pinaghihila habang wala paring tigil ang barilan. I pulled myself up to follow them instead of being drag. The last thing I want right now is for any of these three to drop dead in front of me because they were having a hard time pulling me away from the scene.

Lumingon ako kila Magnus na ngayon ay pinapalibutan na ng mga kalaban. This may be the right time to escape though.

Nagpumiglas ako sa pagkakahawak ni Weem but Paine punch me in the stomach, It made me weak. Mapapaluhod na sana ako sa sakit but Paine catch me at sinampay ako sa balikat niya and the pain in my stomach just kept hurting from being pushed down to his shoulder.

"You shut up, woman. I'll fucking kill if you say one word."

Hindi na ako nagsalita. Tahimik kong ininda ang masakit kong tyan kasabay ng pagpapawis ko ng malamig. I'm honestly scared.

Pagkapasok namin sa gubat, binaba ako ni Paine, that's when I vomit.

"Fuck fuck fuck!" Binaba ni Paine ang baril niya at tinaas ang damit niya. He was shot. His face is sweating so much as he greet his teeth to endure the pain of his wound while sassy has a wound in her hands and Weem on his feet.

Lumapit si Sassy isang puno and she pushed a button, 'yong hindi katangkarang puno ay nahati sa dalawa revealing guns and first aid kit.

"Paine we need to get the bullet out from there," sabi ni Sassy at lumapit kay Paine na nakaupo't nakasandal na sa isang puno. He looks weak. It's amazing that we got this far even thou may tama siya. Not to mention, he was carrying me on his shoulder.

"Damn those bastards. They tried to kill us," sabi ni Weem habang ginagamot ang sarili niyang sugat.

"Akala ko kakampi sila, Paine." Sassy.

"Hindi ko din alam. Maybe they're my brother's enemy," Paine said. His voice is low, his hair a mess and his forehead dripping with sweats.

Kumunot ang noo ko when sassy started pulling out some hospital tools and alcohol sanitizer from the big kit.

"Do you know what you're doing?" tanong ko kay Sassy. Sinamaan niya ako ng tingin.

"I don't. But I need to get this bullet out from him."

Lumapit ako sa kan'ya. "Then you shouldn't just put these things down in the ground." Kinuha ko yung takip ng kit at doon pinatong ang mga gamit na linabas niya. "He'll have infection if you use these things that you just drop on the ground, you know," I told her.

I've been around them for not so long but it's enough for me to know that Sassy and Weem can pull a gun's trigger to defend their life but can never kill, if they can, they should've just left me there to die and run for their lives when their supposed allies started firing at them, but they pulled me with them. It was between life and death back there but they choose life for me and they might not even realize it but I see it. they're not as bad as they claim to be.

Paine is something else though. He's seeking for something from Magnus and it's clearly revenge for his brother's death.

"Buti may Anesthesia kayo." Ginamit ko na iyon kay Paine. This may or may not be enough but at least it could ease the pain. "I know how to take care of wound but pulling out a bullet? No. I'll just go with my own logic thinking, so bare with me." I tried using this clipping thing but I can't seem to find the bullet wound.

We could hear him hissing but he needs to endure it.

I still couldn't take the bullet out. I need to be able to feel it.

Bumuntong hininga ako. "I need to use my hands to pull it out."

Sassy look at me, bewildred.

"I can't seem to fing the bullet," I told her.

Kinuha ko ang alcohol at ipinabuhos iyon kay Weems a kamay ko.

"Stay still, this will hurt, a lot," I told him, but he don't look like his consciousness is with us.

I put my hands in the wounds and he doesn't have any reaction. Kinabahan ako, why is he not responding to pain? But I need to focus in the bullet. After a few minutes, I pulled it out.

"Were lucky it went shallow," I told them.

Pinunas ko ang dugo sa damit ko at tumingin kay Paine. This isn't a reaction to bullet wound. He looks so dead. He's sweating to much, he feels cold, his lips are drying and he seems to be having difficulty breathing.

"Paine. Are you with us?" alalang alalang sabi ni Sassy.

"What's happening?" Weem ask. "May anesthesia naman ah."

"O my god!" Sassy says, alarmed. Parehas haming napatingin kay Sassy.

"What?!" tarantang tanong ni Weem.

"Could it be th-that. He's poisoned?" she says. I could see her fear creeping in her eyes, getting to her head. "Fuck fuck fuck. Paine. Please... Be ok." She held Paine's hand gently like an older sister.

Paine tried to open his eyes but he couldn't. He just weakly smiled.

"F-fuck. H-hindi pa ka-kami nag---nagtutu--" Huminga siya ng malalim. "Na-nagtutuus ni Mag-magnus eh. Wh-why do I feel l-like it-it's getting h-hard to breath."

I could tell them it's the one that exploded eearlier but I didn't have the heart to crush her hope of escape so I stayed quiet as Weem make his way to the yacht.

Tahimik kong tinitignan si Sassy habang alalang-alala niyang pinupunasan ang pawis ni Paine.

"Why would you even do this in the first place?" I asked.. "Look at him now. He's in danger because of this."

Sinamaan ako ng tingin ni Sassy. "You stay the fuck away from this."

"But you put yourselve in this situation." Umupo ako sa buhangin at humalukipkip. "I was worried you might kill Magnus but I realized that you don't have the heart to do se," sabi ko at tumingin kay Paine.

"And this guy looks bitterly sad," I told her pertaining to Paine. "When he said he'll kill Magnus. I didn't only see anger but sadness."

"Because he is sad," sabi ni Sassy. Tumabi siya kay Paine at pinasandal siya sa balikat niya. She looks like she's looking back to a memory that made her really happy but at the same time caused her great grief.

"You ok?" tanong ko.

I was scared at first but now I just feel calm. They won't do anything now. They can't, they're in a dead end.

"His brother was my boyfriend," she said instead of answering me. She let out a shaky breathe. "He was an owner of Security Agency. This is his little bro. Paine looked up to his brother that much, so did I. He's a good man. I love him so much." A lone tear escape from her eyes. Magulo ang buhok niya at puno siya ng pawis. Madumi din ang suot niyang damit. It's probably the sands and dirt from this forest but she don't look fine, that's for sure.

"I never wanted to kidnap someone. I don't want to drag you into this mess too. We never wanted it, but for the sake of revenge. I learned combat fighting. I made myself practice gun firing for this day, only to find myself still doubting to kill someone," sabi niya at ginulo ang magulo na niyang buhok. "We just wanted him back, you know. But you know damn well, you can't bring back a life you just took."

Tahimik akong nakatingin sa kan'ya. I am, again, in no place to talk. I can hear her sorrow throuhg her voice. It's enough for me to know, she loved him that much to even resort to this kind of thing.

I frown when I notice a red dot on her head.

"I think something's on your head," I said. She looks up and the red dot light move to Paine's head.

"Shit, a sniper."

She was about to stand up but then Weem showed up with a gun pointed to his head by Jax.

"Sorry," he said with his hands held up.
