A small child with dark hair ran crossed the room, her freshly washed hair glistening in the afternoon sun as she chased after the shadow that walked crossed the path into the desert, accompanied by two other travellers. The little girl had tears as thick as blood running over her cheeks, screaming for her father. Answering her calls the man turned around, a warm face smiled at the sight of his little daughter chasing after him and he caught her in his embrace. Supporting the back of her head with a single hand he would comfort her back to being calm. The child held onto her father in hopes it would make a difference and in that mindset she believed it would make him stay, but reality was cruel and the man had no choice but to travel afar to return with goods to support his family.
'I will be back as fast as I can, Kaisa,' Her father said comforting, leaning backwards to look at her flushed face. His heart would flinch at the sight of his vulnerable, saddened daughter, but the thought of no roof was an even greater nightmare to him. Pushing the thought aside he clung onto his daughter and pressing another peck on her forehead. 'You look after your mom, if she needs help promise me you'll be a big girl and help her out.'
Kaisa blinked a few times with her eyes and rubbed her tears away, taking deep gentle breaths to contain herself from crying again. Shaking her head swiftly she embraced her father once more and leaned back again. Kassadin sunk low, placing his daughter on the ground, but he remained on the same eye-level as her. 'Be strong, my little flower. Never forget, don't ever be...?'
Kaisa raised her nose and tried to smile as best as she could, repeating their promise to each other proudly. 'Scared and always be brave, because papa will always be around.' Kassadin's smile got replaced by a saddened frown and he hugged his daughter one more time. Every trip that he had to follow, every step he had to take away from his daughter he felt like there would be so much that he would miss. He promised that this would be his last trip, that no longer would he miss a single moment from his family. Never again.Kai'Sa woke up as she felt cold water running down her cheeks and temples, raising herself up from the ground she reached out her hand to catch the drops of water. Another day of rest, meant another fragment of her past. Each time she closed her eyes longer than three minutes she drifted off to a place that no longer seemed familiar to her, as if it was made up and the man she saw as her father was just imaginary, alive in her head to keep her sane. Though she assumed that both her parents had fallen to the void, she promised that no child had to undergo what she had to. Feeling the needles, the itch of her second skin biting through her own skin she got back on her feet, ready to defeat more voidlings if she had to.
Back at the merchant camp Ezreal had not moved much ever since. Weighed down onto a haybed he looked at the gem in his hand, glistening from the firewood that was burning in the tent. He finally had his hands on the one treasure the whole region was after, lived past the legend and got back unharmed. Though he were considered a hero, he did not feel much like one, his victory was not just owed to himself. If only he could reward her some way. During the evening his pocket had radiates a strong blue light, though he ignored it most of the time, he knew it would bring trouble if he did not answer it. Instead of being reasonable and reacting upon the star's calling he turned on his side and tossed it crossed the tent and was confident it was outside by now. With the intention to fall asleep his rest was soon to be broken as a loud crash sounded not so far from his location. A loud groan sounded from his throat as he rolled on his back and heard angry footsteps reaching to his tent. Praying a mantra that she would break her heel while storming to him he closed his eyes, but her annoyed voice would already sound. 'Ezreal, I have been calling you the entire day, what have you been up to?' The diva of diva's, the one leader he had hoped not to get, yet the best chances to win the girl he had on his mind.
'Go away, Ahri. I'm not in the mood.' Pulling his pillow from behind his head he covered his face to avoid getting his eyes scratched out by her majesty.
'Xayah, can you please knock some sense into him.' She yelled, which had confirmed his assumptions. They had brought in all the guardians, but he doubted her team was here too.
'He is not my problem, deal with it yourself.' Xayah groaned back, noticeably annoyed. Ezreal related deeply to how she were feeling, after they successfully neutralized the dark matter from their bodies, their team had successfully won back their fallen comrades, but that did not mean that they fully accepted us yet. Before he could protest again he felt two strong hands grabbing him by the waist and pulling him over his shoulder, he did not have to guess who held him up, as there was only one other male.
'Wow Ahri, I didn't know you go to the gym.' Ezreal said sarky, leaning his elbow on Rakan's shoulder. The athletic man, with one wing, golden as a sunset and wild blonde hair grinned widely to the explorer. 'That was a good one, Ez.'
'Not bad, idiot.' Xayah said as she tagged along. From the looks of Sarah, who stood in the back lecturing a girl with chameleon features not to sniff onto people she was too busy to even have bothered. Soraka and Syndra stood chatting with each other, exchanging looks as they saw Ezreal being carried off by Rakan.
'Did you forget that there was a meeting tonight?' Syndra said mockingly towards Ezreal, obviously not being impressed with his grasp on time.
'I hate the day I said I would be a guardian.' Ezreal mumbled, tapping on Rakan's shoulder to get him off. Standing next to him, Rakan gave him a slightly push with his arm and nodded at the sky. 'Even for her?'
'Is it that obvious?' Ezreal whispered, looking troubled towards the winged man.
'Oh please, I think even she knows, you're just being held on a leash.'
'Sure, I should ask for advice from the love birds, now that's original.' Ezreal said to trigger some kind of annoyance from her.
'You can mock as much as you want, last time I checked you still drool at her sight and write about how "Her HaIR Is LIKe ThE DiSCOLOurAtion oF StaArS and LigHT".' Ezreal's cheeks flushed red after Xayah's comment and threw his star at her. While being too busy laughing at her own joke she had not noticed the object thrown at her and shrieked. Rakan chuckled and ticked him one more time with his elbow. 'Don't take it personal, women don't know how hard it is to win them over.' Though Ezreal did not know Rakan for that long, he was perhaps the only one besides Lux that he really liked from the whole alliance. Ahri walked out of the tent, her dark hair that almost shone white in the light of the moon. 'Okay girls, it's time to rise to the sky. I don't want anyone splitting up, or else there will be heads rolling.' Xayah had rolled her eyes and already leaped into the air, only to fade into starlight to fly odd into the sky. Rakan glanced one more time at Ezreal and wished him good luck with Lux, he too faded into the same light chasing after his girlfriend and as everyone went into the skies, Ezreal took one last look at the desert and held out the tear of the goddess. He surely had to see her again, to reward her in some way. He promised he would, he owed his life to her, he owed the relic to her. With those last thought followed after his team into the skies.Kai'sa walked close to the edge of another cliff, looking down at the inside she had hoped for a trace or glimpse of a voidling, with even a bolt sent out there was no reaction whatsoever. She sighed, the vivid imagination of her dreams that still haunted her. Placing her hand on her forehead she looked over the vast land, but there was no life to be seen. She looked up as she noticed movement in the sky, drawing the skins of her helmet back into place, crawling from her face her hair caught onto the wind. She saw stars, falling stars, it almost made it seem like they were racing back into the sky. With her breath stuck in her throat she looked amazed at the darkened heaven, a star of blossom and green fired through the sky, followed by hints of blue and teal. She had never seen stars that fiery, that beautiful, she thought to herself. More stars followed up, bright pink, red, a mixture of orange and green, purple and mint. She had heard stories of lights that travelled to the north, but she was certainly convinced that these were no lights, those were stars! When she thought the light show was over, a single ray of blue light passed by. She tilted her head at the sight of it being delayed, that it did not follow the same speed as the others. Climbing onto a rock she sat on top of it as she followed the star with her eyes.
'Are you lost, little one?' She asked the sky as it passed her by, she followed its last beams before it disappeared into outer space. It almost seems poetic the longer she stared at it, the more she thought about it. Perhaps it was a sign, that she would never be able to catch up with her wishes, that the things she was chasing after was too far out of her range, or that she would always be alone. The thought saddened her for a moment and she held onto herself, slowly forming a little vulnerable ball.'Ethwon!'
'Kaitcha!'
'Edi!'
'Kaisa!'
Those names were repeated in the horrifying darkness, minute after minute, hour after hour. But with each day a name would no longer be called at the third it was just her screaming her own name. She tried to escape by digging into the walls, but it only cut open her finger and hands. Was her mother dead? She wondered anxiously. Would she still be alive? Did she fall too? Is father still around? What if he comes back and sees the ruin that used to be our home? She wondered. Her fear tried to get a hold of her, make her stay so her death would take away all her fears, but the fear of death had challenged her to escape, to find a way to get out. Placing her hand against the wall she walked through the darkness, following the tunnels that were dug. Some of her size, some smaller and other enormous, she wondered how terrifying those monster could be, but each time she thought to lose her sanity she chanted her father's mantra.
'Don't be scared, because papa will always be around.' Those were the only sounds that came from her frightened youthful body. Resuming her walk, picking on spoiled fruits and the guts of a mammal, Kaisa slowly learned the instincts of survival, but what she least expected that that what she thought was preying on her, would grant her the power to escape. And one day to live her normal life once again.
