Like any other day Kai'Sa woke up at the first rays of dawn, despite being detached from her second skin she would not allow any day, no matter how ill she felt: She would stay in shape and kept her body ready for any surprise that could possibly hit her. Nothing would stop her from following her daily routine she scheduled each day she spent in Ezreal's mansion. If she made one mistake it would cost her life, it were better to make them during practise than apply it to actual events. Walking down the stairs in a slow pace she went over every obstacle that could possibly make enough sound to wake him, with wary eyes she kept staring towards the halls until she had reached the main floor, it was safe to assume he were still fast asleep. Last night had been so pleasant to her that she even dreamt of it, it had bothered her instincts when she did not feel like getting up, just so she could keep imagining her first date over and over again. A smile crept on her lips, her hair was gently pulled on by the wind the moment her feet had hit the concrete. Before she left the first time she had the honour to train Ezreal as he were intrigued by her training schedule, but ever since they met up there was hardly any time to spar together any more. Kai'Sa warmed her body up with simple stretches, one she rarely got the time for to start a good fight with. She usually loosened her body the moment blood had already been shed, luckily it had always saved her from sore muscles the next day. Her eyes fell shut to imagine the darkness that lurked in the depths of the void, it's nails scraping over the fine bits of her spine, her second skin that pricked her with a thousand needles in her pores. Taken by the predator instincts she embraced while in war she threw her hands in every direction, mimicking the motions of her own voidling that shot plasma through it's scales. Aiming for voidlings that scattered around her she did what she was best at, eradicating before it could multiply. Whenever she burned through her own ammo she felt the needles poking into her deeper, gathering it's resources from her own energy. Testing for her flexibility she kept track of every movement and noted to herself what could have been handled better, her high kick was one of those. She had not yet managed to bring a fatal blow to the head, it only weakened and startled them before they resumed their fight. It would usually take her about a few hours for the first drop of sweat to roll from her forehead, her endurance had gotten better over the years and she were lucky in a way to have started at such a young age.
'You know, I never really liked coffee, but it's fairly good to keep me awake in the morning.' The sound of him sipping did not strike her out of her concentration, she did feel a grasp holding on to her heart when heard him walk in. From the corner of her eyes she saw him leaning against the doorpost, from time to time she would catch him moving his mug to his mouth to take a sip. No matter how much she wanted to pause her practise and training she knew deep inside that there would be no such thing as a break during battle, so she threw her leg in the air and tested her durability and flexibility. 'Did I wake you?' Gritting on her teeth she tried to kick both legs in the air and landing swiftly on her feet.
'Not really, after last night I thought of our discussion,' More temptation for her to stop in her tracks, but her will was stronger than that and she clicked her tongue to share her curiosity. 'Aside from us trying out new things, I've always wanted to know what's underground without being pestered by some weird looking animal thing.' Kai'Sa gulped as her will broke down under the pressure, she desperately wanted to look in his direction to read all of his expressions, but she would not take the risk of ever falling for any temptation. Ezreal took another sip from his coffee, in the corner of her eyes she noticed that he put down his mug and stretched himself out. 'But I don't feel like dying or risk getting injured, so I wondered-' He paused, why did he pause? Her eyes widened and her teeth gnawed on her bottom lip once her back was turned. '-If you could, I don't know, train me?'
Kai'Sa's leg hovered in the air, the whole simulation of voidlings rushing in her direction faded slowly once her eyes met with his. Did this mean he wanted to tag along with her? Accompany her while she ventured down in the tunnels? 'You want to join me?'
It was as if he had already thought everything through and did not have to think about it any more. 'The world's most valuable things lay in those tunnels, probably artefacts that are linked with the ascended, or better: the watchers.'
Her thoughts travelled back to every valuable item she had found in the tunnels, chambers dug bigger than the underground tomb Ezreal had taken her, she sometimes wondered what they were but her knowledge lacked to even care too much about them. It was not like she could carry them along, there was no place to store them when the void was practically her new home. 'And you want me to teach you on how to survive the void?'
Ezreal nodded, with a few steps in her direction he had crossed the distance that was set in between them. 'It'll be cool, trust me.'
Kai'Sa could not help but to smile at the thought to not spend her hours and days lonesome in the void, though there were many fears and threats that could harm him like it harmed her she promised on anything in the world that no one would fall prey to them any more, especially not him. 'I would be a fool to not trust you, we're stronger together.'
His eyes lit up at her words, sharing the same heart warming smile that shone on her face. Before he could shake their hand to form their new bond he shook the trance she had put on him. 'Don't let me end up with a void sucking on my skin.'
Both of them burst out in laughter at the image of the explorer walking around with a second skin like hers and for some reason it had only made her more interested towards the idea, so much that Ezreal clicked his fingers to snap her out of the dream. 'I think it would look good on you.' Her cheeks slowly flushed red. She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and looked away with a smile on her lips.
'You were lucky with yours, it's basically a skin tight suit with armour on it. My voidling would most definitely be jealous of my body and grow fungus over my arms or something,' He gasped at the idea and crossed his arms over his chest. 'What if it covers my face and I can't take it off?!'
Kai'Sa wrapped her arms over her stomach as she could not stop her laughter, turning away with tears in her eyes she chuckled aloud. 'Are you really that concerned with your looks?'
'Hey, I've been to places no man dared to go and keep track of everything, I don't want my face to be messed up when people find out there's finally a good looking, dashing explorer that wasn't held back by any rules.'
'What do your notes say about me?' If there was anything she was curious about it most definitely were his thoughts of her, it were still difficult for her to imagine a world where someone was not even remotely scared of her and deep down she feared that her own well developed skills could frighten or intimidate whoever she met.
Ezreal raised one of his brows, clearly amused as if he knew that she were insecure about how he viewed her. 'I didn't write a single thing about you,' Kai'Sa felt her pupils dilating when he lowered his head, something about his well controlled behaviour and sudden drop in his voice had made feel warmer. 'Because you're only mine to explore.'
Kai'Sa did not give away that the tension between them had called on emotions and feelings she had never experienced before, but it certainly would not get a hold on her. Her teeth gnawed on the inside of her cheek, the needles of pain that called that triggered her composed instinct she had when her second skin craved for more. 'Watch out.'
The explorer frowned his forehead, but it were too late. In a split second the daughter of the void hooked her foot behind his ankle and made him almost fell to the ground if she had not caught him by the neck of his shirt.
Ezreal stared with wide set eyes in the direction of his attacker who smiled widely at his surprise to how cunning she could be in the deepest of moments. No matter what, she would teach him the ways that had saved her life. She would make him the first human to come back unturned. If Ezreal had known the course of his actions caused a great consequence he would have taken back his words, but this was something he could not escape from. Kai'Sa was no professor or tutor, she would not teach him how to do something, but made him remember it. Everytime he missed by a hair or nail he would be punished, everytime he thought he could spare a moment to breathe she would strike him again. It should not come as a surprise that her endurance was far greater than his, but it seemed like there was no end to it. After what felt like an hour he finally caught up on her rythm, dodging every hand and fist that was aimed for his head he danced around his teacher. But how long would this dance take?
Ezreal bounced back the moment Kai'Sa had noticed his reflexes towards every punch increased rapidly, it had made him feel victorious when her facial expressions were determined and focused and turned shorly in to doubt. Their current sparring was nothing like the times they kept their senses sharp, it felt like a military training of a few months formed in to a few hours. He surely knew that by the end of the day he'd be left in bruises and sore muscles.
Was this really what she had to deal with every day?
A sigh of relief rolled over his tongue the moment Kai'Sa gasped for air. Feeling his own breathing synchronize with hers he observed her every movement. He was not sure if it were the boost of adrenaline spiking him up or the fact he had rarely caught her fatigued, the way she stood right before him catching her breath made him oddly more attracted to her. It was almost exciting to see how involved she really were. 'Getting tired yet?' With a wide set smirk and half out of breath he enticed her to continue.
Kai'Sa smiled as she huffed for fresh air. 'Not even close.' Flashes of images formed in his head to see her in such a worn out state, but it would not distract him from reaching his goal, no matter how attractive she looked right now.
'Bring it on.'Maybe he did not need to wait until the evening struck, after four hours of fighting Kai'Sa he had used muscles he did not even know he had. The worst of all was that he was lectured on all of them the moment Kai'Sa had almost paralyzed them. She might be uneducated about the world, her knowledge concerning her own anatomy and body was truly outstanding. The explorer was caught laying on the red sofa in the livingroom, with one arm crossed over his eyes. If it were not for his talent to quickly catch up on things he would have nearly been killed by her. With every kick in his direction, lead to another punch the moment he were convinced he had dodged her. However, the experience was not as bad as his injuries. He usually did not enjoy being tutored in to things when he easily understood one's structure and mechanism to nail at the first or second trial, but Kai'Sa gave him a taste of the real world. From the way she fought he understood that you had to be prepared for anything to save your own life, even if it meant it would tire you out. After their fight she made him do all kinds of exercises that enhanced his endurance, when it looked like his work out went with ease she would prove it to be more difficult by placing her foot on his back.
His lips drew from each other when her fatigued state formed in his head again, the way her chest would rise and lower when gasping for air, her dilated eyes at the peak of her exhaustion. Even the drops of sweat on her neck and forehead had drove him nearly wild. He knew it was caused by the release of dopamine, hightened because he wanted to use his magic so badly. Frustration made him blow out a deep groan and he turned on his side, ignoring every image that tried to get a hold of his head. With one last deep sigh he tried to empty his mind and give in to his exhaustion. One week, one more week and he'd have plenty of things to distract himself with.
