A month, something that were to be considered an eternity if you survived as a mere human, but for her, it was taking a stroll through her living room. The smallest hint of a voidling's presence triggered the second skin to itch, to poke needles within every pore and burned through her limbs. A hunt that begun as a dance between prey and predator had changed roles when she too became one with the void. Her memory of the world above the ground's surface was long forgotten when every bit of focus were required of her to fight. If people had to ask, she might have even already forgotten about the guy she had saved from the temple. One of the things that were required to fight the void alone, to let go of the past when the present were in danger and in need of your attention.
Kai'Sa stood in a puddle of slime, the warmth of the ankle deep substance felt warm, it had been above ground and perhaps hurt badly. A young one, she assumed when her jets growled for it's new meal. The palms of her hands glowed when it's breathing were in her hearing vision. If she wanted to catch it, she had to be just as devious, swift and silent. With long strides she headed for the vibrations that it caused, her gloved hands gliding over the hardened sand walls. When her second skin started to rumble out of impatience she locked her jaws onto each other, pushing her nails through the gloves to calm it.
We fight together, we hunt together, so we need to act together. Lost whispers that fed itself to the monster that lingered over her skin, as if for once it had caught the words, the growling had stopped and her steps towards her prey had become easier. The skin, it had to be fed and if she did not succeed, it would not receive anything, so it succumbed to her will and granted her the power she needed. A smirk curled the corner of her lips up, with just a few steps away from her target she caught it's temperature through the mask.
Gotcha.
The daughter of the void held her breath, climbing onto the rock that hindered her vision over the voidling she drew both of energy blades to aim for a clear shot, right in between it's eyes. Teeth stood aligned onto it's back, creating a shell he were unfortunate to crawl out when he had caught onto the scent of his predators. It squirmed around and squealed for it's creators, but none were to dare be in her presence when her skin reeked off their blood and limbs, even the most powerful stood no chance against the power that were held within her, that she knew how to control for an assured success. There was only one kind of killing that Kai'Sa enjoyed, that fuelled the fire to hunt after all creatures of all sizes: For none of them to every harm humanity.
Seldom did she strike out of her own strength to decapitate the void, but she wanted this one to be ridden from it's suffering quickly, since this one were well developed to have a hint of emotions.
'Not on my watch will you ever live between them.'A wind as if blessed by the gods themselves were blown gently into the sails of the ship, dancing like the serene waves that shook the boat liked the cradle. The sun had already kissed the horizon farewell, just like Ezreal had in the dream that kept chasing him ever since. It were not as negative as the one where she had drawn out her last breath in his arms, nor did it bother him for their friendship, but the intensity that he felt during the dream. Everything had felt so real, from the touch of her soft skin, her lashes tickling his cheekbones, hair that were caught in between his fingers. He wondered what had made him more curious, the fact that everything had felt as an actual memory, or that when he had kissed her it were not like how he had dreamed of doing it with Lux. There were no fireworks, no sparks. No, what he felt in that moment were perhaps greater, it had felt as if he were connecting with her as Neeko had explained their bond to be. He felt her presence in more ways than just physical, her heartbeat synchronised with his, their breath became one. When he had kissed her all sense of reality and morality had let go, as if for once he were at the same level with his feelings, almost primal.
He shook the idea out of his head, in neither his or Kaisa's universe would they ever be an item or a couple. It were more likely for Lux to finally give into him than Kai'Sa being with him, she lived in a totally different world than him, she fought the void and only longed to destroy their bloodline, a hunter that longed to put up every head of each animal he had preyed on. The only place he could take in her life was as her friend, nothing more, nothing less. Strangely it had hurt him in a way he were not familiar with, it was as if someone had actually poked him with a needle and left it there for him to figure out how to get it out. To soften the sudden switch of his mood he thought of the moment when Lux held him in her arms, sobbing at the thought of his death. The explorer memorized every bit of touch that she had inflicted on him, caressing his cheek, combing through his hair, resting her thumb on his lip. All had felt so soothing, it had to be their special, perfect moment, until she had kissed him. When he had hoped for their kiss to have sparked a connection between them, he could only feel the texture of her lips on his, her saliva on his tongue. Just the thought of it again had changed his expression from thinking, to disgust. Where he in the wrong world to find a kiss with Lux unappealing when she looked so beautiful to him?
No more thinking about girls, Ezreal said to himself as she crawled out of bed to swing the door open and inhale the fresh air of the ocean wind, he could feel drops of water splashing onto him when the boat glided into a wave. Before he had left the mansion he had quickly brought the map of Shurima with him, along with the logs and directions he had drawn out on the map. As an explorer that went beyond the rules and laws to venture places that were forbidden to enter for any visitor, he had more knowledge of the desert than any other guide, traveller and explorer. Though he did not mind hiring a guide now and then to hear only one third of a story and smiled smugly when he did know what happened to the tombs, the awful fate of trespassers and where every key and hidden door was located.
The golden mask he had seen in his dream must have been underground, laying opposite from the royal bloodline catacombs. Images of fallen gods only spoke of frailty and despair, so whoever were casted to that side must have betrayed the emperors before Azir. If the history books were right, Ezreal would be discovering a fortune that was not even recognised by any other historian. He would go down in the books as Ezreal, the man who had seen it all. A sign of sattisfaction rolled over his tongue and he leaned against the deck rails, the wind that now gently brushed through his hair. The weight on his eyelids grew heavier, worsening when the sound of the waves splashing against the boat played the same melody as Sona's recovery lullaby. His breathing became slow, but heavy, his chin resting on his chest.'Piltover is truly beautiful.'
The first memory he had of her out of her suit, the very first to see adult Kai'Sa wearing normal clothing. He remembered the sun that stood perfectly still right above of him, smoke drifting out of fired chimneys. Even then he were caught off guard when she fell into his vision, never had he seen anyone as comfortable as she were with the tides, the wind, the scent of the ocean, the light. A predator that run lose around the landscapes of a region she had never been to and she soaked every bit of it up like a sponge.
'Yeah, she is.' Just like then did she turn her glance towards him to smile kindly. Though in the route of his dream he took advantage of the moment and stepped away from the pillars to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her in for an embrace. Their eyes once again locked onto each other, only now he could capture the full essence of her invulnerability. No suit, no armour, even though she was just as physically strong. Her eyes did not search for every corner, they were solely focused on him now. Had he ever realised the soft expression in her manner when she were flustered?
Before he could lean in and-A large inhale of a fresh set of oxygen had brought Ezreal back to the present. With just a few blinks did he manage to ridden himself of the short dream. For all that time did he not realise he sat on the ground, sleeping out the consequence to not get some rest after his sea trip of a day. Luckily had he developed another sense that whenever something stopped moving underneath him, it were likely good in his case, this one being a great example: why were he still on deck when he could leave and find the catacombs himself. With the dream that even tried to reach for memories he knew that it was no longer a good idea to go searching for her, especially when his first dream followed that route. But did he really want to risk the consequence of seeing her and maybe damaging their friendship?
'Be cool, Ez,' He mumbled to himself aloud, something that were one if his way to calm the storms in his head. 'She's just your friend, there are many girls like her wandering around.'
For a moment he felt a boost of confidence when the though of alike women being around the globe, until he had gathered his bag and walked towards land. '-unless she's a Shuriman civilian that's wielding a voidling.' The palm of his head met with his forehead, never had he felt as stupid as he did now, his list of stupid comments would never end, probably not even after death would people find journals of him writing the most unlogical stuff.
'You're a mess, Ez,' For some reason, whenever he had a negative anything with a positive value would balance the two. 'But at least you're still handsome.'
A shiver crawled on his spine when once again the vision of him kissing with Kai'Sa came up, something new that haunted him... in a positive way.
'Pretty boy's shoma is huge!' Ezreal shrieked when the chameleon had gotten out of her camouflage and looked at him with big eyes.
Neeko stood tall from the ground, her hands covering her mouth as she giggled at him. 'Neeko got you there pretty good.'
Ezreal looked in confusion, wondering if Ahri might have sent her after him in case he would do something to himself. Most Vastaya were from Ionia, but when he thought of it, wherever the Vastaya could connect with nature, it was possible to have them anywhere. 'What are you doing here, Neeko.' Not much attention were put in her sudden appearance, all he wanted was to get back in Shurima, to travel to the sun disk. What would he say when he sees Kai'Sa again? They did not really hug when they were together, only for that one time they had said goodbye to one another. It would take him a few more days wandering through the desert to even find a way underground. Now he knew how important it were to find Kai'Sa.
'Neeko lives in the jungle, Nidalee raised me here.' Pride dripped from her due to the fact that she were probably one of the very few to have been in her presence and to be raised by her. 'She taught me how to be a strong tomato.'
'Tomato?'
Neeko nodded her head heavily, raising her hands to form a globe. 'It is an expression Neeko uses, the tomato's that grow among humans don't get that big or strong. But when they grow in real nature,' The curious chameleon dove into a set of bushes and returned with a tomato that was probably the size of half her head. 'Then you grow as big as this one and there are so many!' A loud crunch, followed by the sound of a water balloon getting poked into would come when she had set her teeth into it. Enjoying the very taste of it. 'And delicious.'
'Neeko, how far can you sense someone?' Ezreal had asked when he realised that she always referred to the soul of someone, than them.
She thought deeply, an occasional bite out the jungle tomato that fell in between. 'If I'm looking for them, it can be really far! But that's only when Neeko knows them, yes.'
'I'm looking for Kai'Sa, the-'
'Pretty boy's Kai'Sa?'
He sighed deeply and pinched the bridge of his nose. 'She's not mine and she never will be mine.'
He had his answers, Neeko would rarely say no, so he resumed his adventure.
'Did void lady say no?'
'We're not together!'
Neeko giggled, following after the adventurer. 'Not yet.''Never.'
