A Tale From The Past

~Chapter XX~

❄️Christmas Special❄️

It was early in the morning, the sun peeking up from behind the mountains making the snowflakes falling from the sky glistened.

The sound of soft bells rang throughout the kingdom of Arendelle. Soft snow covered the ground as villagers looked out from their frosted windows in awe.

It was the middle of December or more specifically Christmas Eve. The time of year where gifts were exchanged, carols were sung and families celebrated their traditions.

Waking up from her deep slumber. Iduna jumps from her warm bed excitedly as she gets dressed. This was her first Christmas in Arendelle and she couldn't help but feel excited. When she lived in the Enchanted Forest, Christmas was celebrated quite differently.

She remembered making gifts for her parents. The previous year she made her mother a scarf and her father a brand new coat. She could remember the chief would give a small speech of gratitude and the spirits would put on a show as the trees would glow a beautiful white. Children would dance and share gifts and at the end of the day, everyone gathered together for the feast. From the fresh food the hunters had gathered the day before.

Walking towards the main living room with a bright smile on her face, Iduna sees both Helga and Gustav sitting by the fireplace.

"Merry Christmas dear" Helga smiles as Iduna takes a seat and returns the smile

"Merry Christmas"

"Here you go Iduna, this gift is from myself" Gustav says handing a small box to Iduna.

The box was made with a beautiful wood and was smooth to the touch with the lid having a flower printed design. Opening the lid slowly, a soft melody began to play from inside the box. ()

"It's a music box, they are very popular at the moment in Corona"

"Thank you Gustav, this is absolutely beautiful" Iduna smiles shutting the lid and placing the music box on her lap.

"I'm glad you like it," Gustav smiles leaning back in his chair.

"Here you go dear, this is my gift" Helga says giving her gift to Iduna.

Opening the wrapping, Iduna gasps and places her hand over the smooth leather material. Smiling to herself she lifts the book out of the wrapping and reads the title, 'Arendelle Myths and Legends'.

"Thank you Helga, how did you know I wanted this?"

"I saw you took an interest in it at the bookstore a few weeks ago and thought I'd be a great gift" Helga responds with a motherly smile.

Smiling at her adoptive parents, Iduna reaches down beside her chair and pulls out two presents.

"These are for you" Passing both presents to Helga and Gustav, Iduna sits back in her chair as she watched both of them open their gifts.

"Oh my, this is absolutely gorgeous. Did you make this yourself?" Helga asks holding up a scarf that was almost identical to her own but with the Arendellian crest instead of the spirit symbols.

"Yes, it took me sometime to make but I used the same pattern from my homeland but added an Arendelle flare to it"

"Thank you darling" Helga smiles wrapping the scarf around her neck before turning her attention to Gustav as he opened up a small box taking out a round golden object.

"Oh thank you Iduna, I've been meaning to buy a new pocket watch" Gustav smiles as he runs a finger across the watch.

"Your welcome, I'm glad you guys like your gifts" Iduna smiles
