Tranquil Beauty Chapter 1

The Shinra Athenaeum was the largest library in the Midgar city with all the information that has been researched, gathered, and currently being worked on stored within its facilities. Most of my time is spent within these walls surrounded by all the knowledge that I could only dream to someday know of. The architecture is extraordinary from its colossal walls to its soaring ceilings. Selorio and Crys, my good friends, if not out on a mission are always within these walls. They once told me that one of the reasons they were promoted to 1st Class was because they were always knowledgeable. SOLDIERS preferred to take Healers that were knowledgeable and confident in their craft; ones who are able to balance their support from healing to status boosts.

This evening there will be a advancement test for 3rd Classes. Though it will be in the Virtual Training Room it is one of the most important assessments for rookie SOLDIERS especially for  those who want to make it up in ranks. SOLDIERS from all Classes will be there to watch and scope to see if there are any potentials for their squad. I remember Crys telling me her experience with this test. Crys was partnered up with another Healer and they had to defeat a Behemoth on their own without any assistance of SOLDIERs. Though the feat ended in failure the fact that Crys could hold her ground using spells from cures to barriers and an instance where she was able to summon an elemental attack peaked the upper classes. They started requesting her assistance for Elite missions and before everyone knew it she was promoted to 1st Class. Seloria on the other hand had a totally different scenario, she was known as the "Healing Genius" second to Aerith. Her test consisted of two Elite SOLDIERs, Cloud and Zack, the test was to make sure that they would constantly have boosts, their injuries and wounds healed, while blindfolded. Seloria's approach was to consistently have protect on Cloud, Zack, and herself so that though she is blind to the battle she is able to detect their movements making it easy for her to assess the situation. From how strong the enemy was to how much stronger she needed to make her comrades.

My test can be whatever they please, it could end in defeat but with a great outcome to failure then be sent home. Just thinking about it made my stomach cramp; I can't have these thoughts. Keeping a positive mindset I make my way to the VR Training Room to squeeze in training time.

Many of the rooms were taken but luckily for me both Seloria and Crys were just finishing up with their training with Zack and Cloud.

"Hey! ...Training?" Seloria says as she tries to calm her breathing.

"Yes! Can I have the room when you guys are finished?" I asked shyly keeping my eyes on just Seloria.

"Yeah sure. Cloud and I are about to head out anyways; it's a big night tonight!" Zack chimes as he puts his glistening arms on Crys.

"ZACK! EW! GROSS!" Crys cries while pushing Zack's arms off of her and landing a punch on him.

As they make their way out I stand in the room finally alone reflecting on all the mistakes that I have made during previous training sessions. Calculating the battle I am about get myself into, I try and play the battle out in my head. I turn around to make sure that everything is set and I see that everyone decided to stay back to watch. I give them I small wave and they exchange it with thumbs up and gestures of motivation.

The simulation I chose today was to fight beside the lead General of Shinra, Sephiroth. Many SOLDIERs and Healers have chosen Angeal or Genesis as their comrade in battle because their movements and fighting style is predictable. But what I need is something that will test my abilities and to think on my feet. Though the missions that I have currently been on are minor ones I want to be able to fight alongside Elites someday.

As the ground starts to shake forming the landform I glance over to my side and I see that the General has materialized. This VR Training room is the best, top of the line technology. With his argent hair blowing in the winds created by the VR room the sim misses absolutely nothing about the General. From his piercing glare, his attire, to his gloved hands and the Masamune. With only a few more seconds left for wait mode I prepare myself for battle. Then in a blink of an eye a Behemoth appears in front of us I look over to Sephiroth he nods and darts towards the enemy with me trailing behind him.
