13: Really, did I miss here?

"Mama...", a small hand lightly pull Amber off her own thoughts.

Amber looked around at the familiar surrounding. Was it really the same? The last place she stood before leaving for the United States.

Everyone in the airport seems to have their own destination but, what about her? Where can she returns to? Before she left South Korea, at least she had a home, a normal family.

But now, after eight years, she came back to the same place. It's still the same place but with different people. What remains is the distressed memories from 8 years back.

Amber pats the head of the small little girl who foolishly smiled at her.

"8 years Ariel... it's been 8 years...", Amber's eyes were fixed on her daughter. Ariel tugged her mom's hand with a worried face, "Don't cry... no... mama... are you hurt?".

Amber forced out a smile and took Ariel's hand and walked out of the airport.

All the way on the road to the place where she will be settling down, there were familiar path, with unfamiliar buildings.

"Ariel, take your own stuffs up, okay baby? Mama can't handle all of it. Please, baby?", Amber hollered at her daughter who turn back to carry her stuffs before running excitedly to the elevator.

Amber only had two big luggage and one small luggage. Indeed, her eight years in the US did not result in much stuffs and she only brought back what really was important.

When Amber look at the small two room apartment, housing only basic furnitures in front of her, she felt very complicated.

After finish unpacking her stuffs, the sun no longer shine instead the lights from the buildings and streets took over. Amber took little Ariel down to the street and bought just a few snacks for their dinner.

It was already 10 p.m. when they finished their dinner and cleaned up everything. Amber lie tiredly on the bed while Ariel was already sleeping beside her.

Her daughter's small body stuck close to her as if she was afraid her mom would disappear anytime.

Amber look at the black ceiling above her, "Really. did I miss here?". Amber's last thought fade away before she was slowly consumed by her drowsiness from a whole busy day.

The next morning, Amber took Ariel to the primary school she registered beforehand and left for work. Ariel was very reluctant to part in this unfamiliar surrounding and kept on crying but Amber had to leave nonetheless.

Looking up at the high rise building standing proud in front of her, Amber could only feel like she was very insignificant and the world did not need her. Before she came back, she applied to hundreds of companies in South Korea but only this company was willing to accept her.

She did not even managed to complete her degree, so, she did not expect much. But she did not expect it was this bad.

An intern worker. At the age of 28. What a joke.

"Good morning. My name is Amber Liu. I will start as an intern from today in the Human Resource Department. Nice to...", Amber slowly stopped. No one was bothered to listen anyway. They were all busy doing their job.

"Hey.. you! Buy me a hot cappuccino.", a young looking lady, even maybe younger than her, called out. Then, a lot more other orders came in.

Amber quickly put down her stuffs and head out to the nearest coffee shop. Both her hands were full and she had to be fast.

When she reached the company, she excitedly announce her first errand, "Coffee's here everyone.".

Her voice resonated and something seems off. The whole department was silent and no one answered back.

A sturdy figure wearing a black suits with the back facing her was a few meters away from her and the other staffs were hanging their head low. Beside him was a rather petite woman but from her back, one could feel the overflowing elegance and professionalism.

The head of the department quickly move forward towards her and pull her nearer before pushing her head down low too.

"Sorry. Sorry Mr. Oh. She just came in today. She's a new intern. Forgive her. She did not mean to interrupt you speaking."

Amber could feel like her heart was about to stop. That back. She'd seen it for millions of times when she was chasing after him those years. How could she be wrong?

One glance and she know who was in front of her now. The surroundings dropped a few degree with the chilly black eyes staring right at her.

If she looked up now, she could've seen that familiar eyes which is now pitch black without much emotion. No one could comprehend what he was thinking right now.

A thousands kind of scenario played in her head before returning here about how she would encounter him but never had she ever thought it would be this early, in this way.

The first day of her work and she met him.

Sehun took up his hand to shut the head of department who is still blabbering non-stop thinking that the president will fire this new intern.

"Follow me.", Sehun's voice was stern but there was a subtle crack. No one would realised if they did not listen carefully. Even if they heard him, everyone would've thought it was just a mistake.

How could their almighty president who always stood so high and proud choke on his words?

The secretary beside him walked carefully behind both Amber and Sehun but her head was spinning fast. Who was this new intern who can make it into Sehun's office on her first day?

However, the others were already pitying Amber. They were sure she would be scolded and fired on her first day.

The two seems to have eaten something to glue their mouth. One stood quietly looking at her own shoes while the other sat with his leg crossed and his hands hold tightly to his knee.

Did he recognize me? Amber's eyes was wondering everywhere on the ground.

He might not recognize me.

Look at me, I had changed so much! Indeed she was plump compared to before, but it did not really affect much.

But her mood quickly went down again.

Maybe, he do not even remember me.

I was only in his life for a short period of time.

I am only one of his many girlfriends.

Sehun looked at her shoulder heaved up and down, could not help but snorted, how can a person be so stupid even after 8 years. So foolish that he could see right through what was in this idiot's mind the whole time.

HELLO PEOPLE!!! I AM VERY SORRY FOR THE VERY SLOW SPEED OF ME UPDATING. REALLY I WAS OUT OF MOOD AND WAS BUSY FOR MY FINAL YEAR. FOR NOW I REALLY DID NOT DECIDE HOW MANY CHAPTERS IM GOING FOR BECAUSE THERE IS QUITE A FEW SCENARIOS THAT I WANNA ADD IN BUT I MAY JUST SQUEEZE IT IN 20 CHAP IF I FEEL LIKE I AM DAMN LAZY TO CONTINUE THIS STORY. AND HOPE IT'S NOT TOO LATE, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 GUYS!!
