-Swat-

"ah" I jumped back from the table

the pharaoh smirked biting in to a brilliantly red apple

"snoozing on the lesson?" he leaned over my shoulder "you know better then to be snoozing on my time"

he softly stroked my hair
making me turn bright read

"begin"

it had been a weeks of these strict lessons. I had hardly been able to sleep and wondered if the pharaoh even slept. it felt as soon as I closed my eyes he was there escorting me to a lesson. ever since that awful night that he branded me. hes been strict but not cruel; as any teacher should be. Leaving me with work while he went on meeting to the temple.

The festival of death would be happening during the first full moon of summer solstice. though I knew we could hardly tell seasons anymore. nothing hardly grew like they had in the prior springs. Summer was coming the nights weren't as chilly, and the air was more dry and arid.

"excellent...why..lets take a walk.."

"A walk?" I said perplexing what that truly meant.

"yes, I think I've run you through much these past few days..a walk would suit you well"

he opened the door escorting me out. I no long stood behind the pharaoh but next to him. As I learned I was going to his "queen" for the festival I wondered if he had announced this to anyone else. would people ask questions I swallowed hard.

"have you ever seen a desert Nile flower blossom?" the pharaoh faced me a moment curiously

"ah..no"

the pharaoh smiled guiding me out to the familiar garden.
this garden was familiar it was where I had encountered the pharaohs strange and animal like reaction. I touched my neck not even a blemish left. But..it was always cold and numb where his teeth broke the skin.

my eyes began to burn as
the sun blinded me a moment  We stepped into the warm air. I was shocked to see the daylight. There hadnt been sunlight like this in.. I couldnt remember that last time... my eyes laid heavy in their sockets. I rubbed them frantically to adjust to the brilliant light

Like a beautiful painting blurred colors turned into brilliant flowers and plant life. life I had not seen since the Pharaoh came into power.

I gasped in excitement with out hesitation I ran towards the collection of flowers smelling them. the familiar and longing essence intoxicated me. I pinched a petal gently soft and delicate.

"How did you! how did you manage this!" I sprung up spinning around. "This is incredible"

The pharaoh leaned against the palace wall smirking

I found myself not awaiting an answer and running through the gardens. I felt like the whole world froze to let me feel this. this moment of bliss. I danced around like a child and  I felt free. Spinning in the soft wind. The aromas kicked up was fresh and lively. I rushed to the fountain that was now full of small fish I nearly screamed. I watched them poke to the top interested in food no doubt.
I turned back to were the pharaoh had been to noticed he had gone.

"I won't bother to ask if you like it" he flashed a wicked smile. He sat next to me now. how quickly he moved was unnatural to say the least but there was nothing quite ordinary about the Pharaoh to begin with.

I swallowed hard hoping this wasn't a trick.

"Its beautiful" I exacerbated how did you manage to get anything to grow here?"
