"I know and me too. I've got to go, if I find out any information i'll let you know." I told Ethan before hanging up the phone call. I heard the change in his tone of voice, I could sense that he had tears rolling down his cheeks. But I was struggling to hold back crying myself, so I think it was better I ended the call. When I ended the call, Felicity and I signalled each other a look of confusion as to why the doctors hadn't come to see us yet. I moved to the front desk where a receptionist sat.
"Hey, I am the family member of room 102 patients. Can you let me know when we can see them?" I ask displaying a genuine smile on my face.
She checked the database and accessed confidential information on her computer.
"Your mother and dad are awake and have been moved to a different hospital room, unfortunately your sister is still unconscious. You can't see your sister now as she is undergoing tests but you can see your parents. Would you like me to show you the way?" The receptisionist asks me flashing her pearly white teeth.
"Yes please. Let me just get my sister." I told the receptionist as I gestured to Felicity to join me.
The receptionist started walking and we followed here down many hospital corridors and past many operation rooms. The receptisionist's hair was tied up into a high ponytail with a bobby pin on either side, she wore denim jeans and a purple flowly top accessoried with a gold bracelet and silver stud at the top of her ear. She had one inch black kitten heels on, displaying a foot tattoo that consisted of a quote.
After about 5 minutes strolling through the hospital wards we reached room 407. The receptionist then guided us into the room but a doctor took it from there.
"Hello. Were these patient's children. I'm Aaron and this is my sister Felicity." I explained to the doctor as he gave us a stern look.
"Oh yes yes yes.." He began, his stern look eased.
"I was wondering when you two would turn up. I'm Dr Johnson but you can call me Dr J or whatever you want." He chuckled before continuing.
"And I am managing your parents and your sister. Some information you may have not recieved is that your parents have just recently woken up from a medically induced coma, they woke up about two hours apart from each other. Their injuries seemed to be mostly the same so that was suspected that they would wake up at similar times. They are still a bit drowsy but are making a fast recovery. Your sister is still asleep and we can not yet tell you when she will awake, we hope soon." He explained to us in a very gentle tone.
Felicity and I both nod. I felt my parents waking up was bittersweet. My parents were alive and awake and I was so happy and excited but on the other hand my sister was still not responsive or awake. I had no idea what other hurtles we were going to have to overcome with the three of my family members recovery process.
"I will let you all have some time together, just press this red button if anything happens. I will be back in about 10-15 minutes to check their heart rate and hydration levels." He stated signalling the red button on the side of the hospital beds and next to the door.
"Thank you for all you have done to help our family." Felicity expresses her apprecitation to the doctors.
He flashes a smile and winks.
"It is all going to be alright. I have a lot of hope and faith that all members of your family will make a full recovery." He replies before waving and walking out the door.
Once the door closes, I see Felicity edge closer to the beds. I slowly walk behind her and recieve a glimpse of my parents sleeping. I take a seat on my mum's side and Felicity takes the seat on my dad's side. We each grab their hands. My mum's eyes flutter open, she instantly recognizes me and grips my hand.
