I stood in the rain as I watched the car reverse and drive through the gates. The rain continued to fall onto me as I stood watching the car drive into the distance down the road. Tears slowly trickled down my face. I could understand why he was a bit pissed off, but this was a bit of an over-reaction... wasn’t it? I stayed in the rain by myself for a little while longer. I didn’t care that I was still in my outfit from the performance. I didn’t even care that I had left all my stuff in the dressing room. All I wanted to do was go back to York and get a hug off my mum. Leaning against the wall, I closed my eyes and imagined the last hour hadn’t happened as the rain dripped onto my face, getting heavier and heavier.
“Sammy, you don’t know where George is, do you?” a familiar voice asked me after a few minutes.
“Sammy, are you okay?” another familiar voice asked.
I opened my eyes and looked to my side to see JJ, Jaymi and Josh stood next to me. “Sammy, tell us what’s wrong and we might be able to help,” Josh said, putting his arm around my shoulder.
I shook my head.
“Can we at least go inside?” Jaymi asked. “You’re going to die of hypothermia out here.”
I shook my head again.
“Sammy, is it to do with you and George?” JJ asked me.
“There is no me and George anymore.”
“What?” Jaymi asked me, looking as confused as I felt.
“It’s over,” I said. “It’s all fucking over with.”
JJ put his arms around my waist and hugged me. I sunk into his chest as I continued to cry. “It’s going to be okay,” he whispered. “We’ll talk to him.”
“There’s really no point,” I said, pulling my head away from JJ’s chest. “It’s too late.”
“Come on, let’s get back to the hotel,” Josh said, rubbing my back in an attempt to calm me down. “You’re soaked.”
We all walked over to one of the cars and got in. As the driver began to reverse the car through the gates of the studios, I couldn’t help but blame myself for everything that had happened. It was my entire fault, not George’s. I could have easily told Brian that I didn’t want to grind against a backing dancer. I know it was innocent and I know it was part of the performance and the dance choreography. But if that had been a professional female dancer grinding up against George, I’d have felt the exact same way. I didn’t blame him for reacting the way he did. For the whole duration of the half an hour car journey back to the hotel, I kept beating myself up about what had just happened. I couldn’t help but think about how things could have gone differently if I had just asked for Brian to take the grind out of the choreography. As soon as the car pulled up to the hotel, I was the first to jump out. The driver hadn’t even turned the car’s ignition off properly before I opened the door and got out. I ran up the steps to the main entrance of the hotel without even waiting for JJ, Jaymi and Josh. Luckily there was hardly anybody in the lobby of the hotel. A photo opportunity of me with drenched hair and mascara smudged down my face would have resulted in a field day for the paparazzi, not to mention the amount of rumours that would have been circulating within hours on every social networking site ever created. I ran across the lobby and up the stairs to my floor. I made my way down the corridor and opened up my hotel room’s door. As the door slammed shut behind me, I collapsed onto my bed in tears. Sobbing into my pillow, I laid motionless for what felt like hours. After a while, my phone began to constantly vibrate next to my arm on the bed beside me. I turned it off and shoved it onto my bedside table. I just wanted to be left alone. Reaching over to the dressing table, I grabbed my make-up wipes and began to take my make-up off. As soon as I finished, there was a knock at the door.
