It was dull without Sirius at 12 Grimmauld Place. There was no one to play with anymore. Especially now that even if you mentioned his name outside of these dark walls you would be punished.

When Walburga and Orion got the letter that their son had gotten his first detention not even a month into a school they were not impressed at ALL.

"GOD FORBID THAT BOY WHEN I NEXT SEE HIM!" Walburga screeched after she had read the letter. All student got a letter home after their first detention.

They didn't take it out on Regulus, not right now atleast, not whilst he wasn't at Hogwarts, not even in a house yet. Regulus had no choice but to get used to their new mind-sets, to their telling , to their cursing his name...everything. He had to get used to knowing his brother was no longer....his brother? No, he was...wasn't he?

It was too much for a ten-year-old to understand all though he vowed that, one day, he would not just know but understand why.

He quickly ran up to his room, his parents were telling about Sirius again. He clicking here to hear it any longer. They spoke so....so...there probably wants even a word too describe no badly they were talking about him.

He knew (via sneaking out of bed one night) that his brother had been sorted into Gryffindor. He let out a silent sigh. Why had he been sorted there? Surely it was a mistake...right?

Gosh, this was a lot to take in.

So, now he wasn't alowed to speak about his broth....Sirius. He had to keep picking himself up on that. He had a habit of calling him brother instead of Sirius nowadays. Sirius....Sirius...Sirius.

He was his brother for goodness sake. He couldn't just...forget about him. Not after everything they had been through together.

The sleepless nights of their family plotting against the halfbloods and muggleborns.

The days where they were kicked out of the kitchen because meetings with the Dark Lord were being planned.

Moments where they did re-think of what their family was doing was right.

He just couldn't.

Regulus Black could not just forget about Sirius.

"Regulus dear...dinner is ready!" His mother said sternly from the kitchen. He quickly made his way down the stairs.

He say down at the table and put his napkin in his lap, like a good child.
"Now it seems....we have something to discuss," Orion said as they are their dinner that night.

Oh god...please...not about Sirius...please...I can't take it.

"You do know that your brother was sorted into Gryffindor right boy?" He said.

For fucks sake.

"Regulus!" He said a little louder when he didn't answer, snapping his fingers.
"Yes father, " He said looking him in the eye, as he was brought up to do.
"And you do know we expect you to be our family heir now," He said, taking a bit of his food as if saying something like that was causal.
" W-what! " Regulus said, choking on his water. His mother sighed and wiped his shirt.

"Yes boy. .that's what we expect of you now..." He replied.

Regulus gulped and excused himself from the table, saying as the  new heir he should get some rest. His parents smiled proudly.
