"You know...it's supposed to be a full moon soon!" James smiled.

These words were the one thing Remus could've done without. He didn't need any daily updates leading up to the days he would transform.

For an eleven year old, it hurt like hell.

Remus was smart. He knew he would be questioned when he came back. He also knew that he wouldn't be able to cover the injuries.

He knew he would get bruises, cuts and scrapes and maybe a few scars. He knew that Sirius would question him most. He liked Sirius better out of them all. He didn't know why, he just did.

"Hey guys.." Remus said.

" Yep! " They all said in unison.

"I'm going to have to go home tonight...my mum is ill," Remus lied.

" Alright, hope she gets better Rem! " Sirius replied cheerfully.

All three oblivious as ever.

And that's what Remus needed from them.

It made him sad they believed him so easily, not really caring. But he couldn't risk losing them. They may not care for him truly - but they were there, and that was enough for now.....

The sunset lit up the sky, it was a mix of oranges , pinks fading into a deal violet.

Remus had had a meeting with Dumbledore and his parents for when the moon would rise. Yes would go to The Whomping Willow and into the Shrieking Shack then, when the sun rose, Madam Pomfrey would heal his wounds and they would head to the hospital wing for him to take some options before heading off to classes.

They wanted for make sure Remus and everyone else would be 100% safe and that Remus was cared and treated for professionally by Poppy herself.

At six o'clock he waved goodbye to the boys and left the Gryffindor Common Room.

"Hello Remus," Madam Pomfrey smiled, taking his hand and led him away and down the staircase.

They walked silently through the hallways, the small boy couldn't help but shake out of fear, he had never done this differently before.

The cold air blew his hair in all sorts of directions and the rest of the light coming away from the moon lit up his pale skin.

"Okay Remus, no need to worry. At least you'll have a nice big area to run around in instead of that awful basement!" She said, trying to lighten the mood - which worked a little.

" And, I'll be right here waiting for you in the morning ok? " She reassured him.

"Alright...thank you Madam Pomfrey," He smiled.

"Call me Poppy," She said - they would be seeing each other a lot so why not just get used to it?

Remus nodded and headed down the tunnel of the Willow and into the Shack.

It was a gloomy place, yet he couldn't of asked for anything more. It was massive! For a werewolf who was no way near fully grown yet!

He was still a pup, near his teen years though.

Remus say down on the soft bed, signing in content.

His bones ached and his head was pounding! He hoped this would all be over soon, he already had his excuse and he could back to normal. No more worried for a while month. He looked forward to it.

He carried these thoughts with him. He had to be honest with himself, Hogwarts had been better than he had thought. I mean, he had real friends! That was more than he could ever wish.

He had never had friends before, as you know.

Heck, he didn't even go to school! He was homeschooled by his mum.

These thoughts were discontinued though, as the pale moonlight began to shine through the curtains.

"Here we go again," He sighed as the train started to fill him.

They say hearing a child's laugh when no is home is the scariest thing. It's not. It's a child screaming.

Something was different about Hogwarts that night. Everyone could feel it. Even James, Sirius and Peter back at the castle.

"Feels weird without Remus doesn't it?" James said, to which the others hummed in agreement.

"Hope his mum is ok," Sirius mumbled, looking out of the window next to his bed. He did miss Remus. A lot. There was something about his presence that calmed everyone - even people who didn't know him.

Sirius sighed.

"Something up Sirius?"

"Just missing Remus..." He sighed.

" I know but he'll be back tomorrow! " James chimed.

"Yeah your right...he would want me to miss him but not be overly sad!" Sirius grinned and decided it was best to just steer his mind away from Remus.

He couldn't understand what affect the bit had on him but it surely was a great one. The boy had a light about him that no one could really understand. He brought light to wherever he was by simply being.

This is what confused Sirius the most. Did he do that? Did Remus feel this way about him? Is Remus even thinking of him right now?

That's when he spotted something out of the window.

There!

By the big tree!

Is that....Madam Pomfrey? And.....Remus?!

The boy froze and didn't know what to do. He decided not to tell James and Peter. Seeing this made him feel quite special actually. Thank god.

He turned away from the window and started chewing on his lip. He was baffled.

Maybe it was a secret passage to his home. Yeah. It's probably that, that's why he is with a teacher.

If anything was off or dangerous he would probably be alone or not in sight.

"Anyone up for a game of exploding snap?" Sirius asked.

The three boys played into the night, laughing and joking at each other and how they reacted when the crack went off when someone lost. Sirius was really good at this game!

He laughed especially at Peter who let out a loud girly shriek and jumped out of his seat on the floor, falling back and hitting his head on the floor.

He and James were clutching their stomachs laughing, tears falling down their cheeks. He had never laughed like that before.

Little did they know Remus was in so much pain.
