christmas leavers

Today was the day all the students (who chose to) were leaving Hogwarts for the Christmas break. When they came back, it would be the new year! 1972!

On the last day, the whole school was buzzing with excitement. Since it was the last ever day, there were no lessons on.

All of the boys decided to spend the day together, outside in the snow, and have a mini-early Christmas. This was because, they wouldn't see each other for a while AND Sirius would have a horrible Christmas with his horrible parents!

The three boys decided to avoid that from conversation though.

You see, it didn't seem like any of the boys would be having a good Christmas at all. James would miss his friends dearly and his father would be away on a work conference until a few days after new years eve. Peters family was poor and don't have enough money to celebrate. Sirius' parents were another story and so we're Remus'.

None of them were really happy but hey, atleast they had each other right now!

"Alrighty boys! Whose down for a snowball fight?" James grinned.
"MEMEMEMEME!!!!" Sirius screeched. He didn't even know they existed until James had told him about them on his birthday last month.

Remus had sure all of them at least had a jacket on and they all set out for the frozen-over black lake.

"I'm so excited!" Peter said excitedly.
"Me too Pete!" James grinned as the four raced down to the frozen lake to start their snowball fight.

When they got there, James spoke up.

"Ok! Teams are....me and Remus...Sirius and Peter!" He smiled at Sirius' disappointed face - he knew he wanted to be on his team but he knew Remus would come in handy.

"Y-you want me to do it to? " Remus asked.

"Of course Remus!" James rubbed his back, soothing his anxiety a little. " We would never forget about you! " He smiled and went off to talk to Peter.

He wondered why Lily didn't like James instead.

"Ok Teams! Three....two....one...go!" James yelled and they all started quickly scrambling in the snow to make the snowballs.

Remus was the first to make one and quickly launched it at Sirius, knocking him over.

"Oi! No nut shots!" Sirius laughed. Remus just looked around innocently as if he didn't know what he was talking about.

Remus couldn't help but wonder how his friends loved him this much. He had never really experienced someone loving him before. Sure, he had loved many people and and many things. But no matter how hard he tried, he never received any back.

There,in that moment, he felt loved and cared for - he felt like he had friends.

But then Peter hit him hard with a snowball in the back.

"TRAITOR!" He screeched and launched one right at Peter's face, knocking him clean and off of the floor.

And the riot shamelessly continued.

You would think that some people gave them weird looks or even tell them to go inside (who am I kidding that would be Mcgonagal) but no! They had no disturbance whats so ever.

You know why?

Because it was amazing to look at.  Four boys living there best lives. No cases in the world. All the older years remembered those days. Carefree and no worries. They hoped the boys cherished these moments.

Because in the blink of an eye,

there gone.

Platform 9 3/4 was very crowded. It was a few hours after the snowball fight and they were all now boarding Hogwarts express.

"Don't look so sad Sirius! We'll be back in a month!" Peter grinned. James shoved him giving him the shut up you know why he feels that way look. Then Peter remembered. He wasn't the luckiest of them all but at least he had a loving home to go back to.

Remus took him aside for a second.

"Look, I know your nervous but please don't worry. I know it won't be the best but worrying makes it worse. Remember to owl me if things get too bad. There is always a spare room at mine. Or James' or even Peter's ok?" He said.

"Thanks Rem...I appreciate it," Sirius smiled , it did sooth him a bit but he knew he couldn't leave. Leave Regulus in that ghastly home.

But then he did really brighten up.

He would get to see his brother again! Things couldn't be too bad? Atleast he would have Regulus to keep him company.

The train ride back wasn't exactly as exciting at the four had wanted. They were all going to miss each other dearly and knew that neither of them would even be having a good time.

James finally spoke up. "Promise I'll invite you all round for Christmas next year," He smiled and they all looked at him and grinned.

"All miss you all...I haven't ever had friends before," Remus said.

" Well you do now Remus, " James grinned and clapped him on the back. That was right. They were young and only knew each other for about three months but they adored each other endlessly.

"I can't wait to see my sister," Peter smiled.

"You have a sister?!" They all yelled, Peter burst out laughing.
" Yep! Her name is kate! She was only born about a week ago, I was gonna tell...I just forgot , " Peter grinned.

"Wait but that means....." Remus started, eyes wide.

It took a few moment to get through to all the boys.

"EWWWWWWWW!!" They all cringed. Peter turned red and looked away.

They really were different, this lot.

"You seem cheery, Sev," Lily smiled at her friend.

" A month without Potter, Pettigrew and Lupi- Remus, " He grinned.
"Oh for gods sake Sev what's wrong with Rem? He's so nice," She said dreamily, Severus curled his lip in disgust.

" He ditched us for those three idiots! " Severus shouted. This wasn't really the reason - he was glad he was out of the picture for a while, more time for him and Lily to be alone.

"I still see plenty of him!" Lily argued.

" Well that's becau-"

"And that's not because he doesn't like you! He knows you hate him and so he doesn't speak to you, trying not to upset you.....it's so sweet," She said, drifting off to daydream about Remus. Again.

" I'm sure he'll miss us, " He said sarcastically.

Lily turned to the window and after a few minutes she spoke up again.

"Look Sev! We're here!" She smiled.
