You're an absolute brick

Peter that night, just like the night before, was sat up watching his brother sleep.
He really didn't know what to do... Edmund was just getting weaker as the hours went on, and it was quite clear that the pain from his wound was getting worse.
But Edmund had already told him that he didn't want the witch back, for Narnia's sake and for his too. He had a point as well, if Jadis came back to life then she'd almost surely go after Edmund, and more than likely ending up killing him... after days upon days of torture that is.
After a while he nodded to himself, tomorrow he would go and talk to Susan and Lucy and find out what they thought was best... but until then all he could do was wait and worry.
"Pete?"
Peter was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard his brother and, looking down saw him very much awake, eyes half open and a look of pain on his face.
"You okay?" Peter asked worridley, leaning forward and placing his hand gently on Edmund's shoulder.
Edmund managed a small shrug. "The pain woke me up." He mumbled.
Peter swallowed hard, running a hand through his hair. "I never should've left you." He sighed. "It's all my fault."
Edmund sighed, sitting up slightly. "It's not your fault Peter." He said quietly. "I'm the one who got lost."
"But you wouldn't of gotten lost if I'd just stayed with you." Peter argued.
"You don't know that Pete." Edmund said calmly before he flinched.
"You okay?" Peter said as quickly as he could.
Edmund sighed. "It just hurts is all." He shrugged. "And I feel really weak."
Peter sighed. "You lost way too much blood." He choked, slowly shaking his head. "You must of been laying there for ages."
Edmund nodded slowly. "It felt like ages." He mumbled, sighing as he lay back down again. "Peter?" He said after a while.
"Yeah?" Peter replied quietly.
"Can you please get some sleep?" Edmund sighed. "You're absolutely exhausted."
Peter's eyes went slightly wider. "You've got to be joking?!" He almost laughed. "There is absolutely no way I am going to sleep."
"But you're tired Peter." Edmund exclaimed. "And don't try denying it, you nearly fell asleep during dinner."
Peter sighed. "Ed I can't." He mumbled. "What if you're stabbed in your sleep?"
Edmund stared at him for a moment. "I - I'll wake you up with the noise I make, you're a light sleeper Pete." He said quietly.
Peter shook his head. "I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway." He told his brother. "No way." He added under his breath.
Edmund sighed, sounding slightly annoyed, but then he swallowed hard, taking a deep breath. "I don't wanna be stabbed again." He choked.
Peter sighed, moving over to sit on the hammock beside his brother. "I know you don't." He mumbled.
Edmund took another deep breath before burying his face against Peter's chest, Peter wrapping his arms around his shoulders. "But you know." Peter mumbled. "If we brought Jadis back-"
"No!" Edmund said quickly. "Peter I've told you this, we're not bringing her back."
Peter sighed. "Ed you're gonna die if we don't!" He exclaimed.
"I-" But he was cut off when an agonising pain shot through his stomach, causing him to let out a horrific gasp and double over, his eyes slamming shut.
Peter's eyes went wide as he lay Edmund down on the hammock, his brother already gasping for air. He managed to get his tunic off before applying pressure to the wound.
"Lucy!" He screamed as loud as he could, hoping beyond hope that someone would hear him. "Help!"
Edmund's gasping got a little more desperate as he flinched at Peter's shouting.
"Lucy!" Peter shouted. "Susan!"
The next minute both Susan and Lucy dashed into the room, Lucy's cordial already in her hand.
"Hurry." Peter said quickly, tears in his eyes.
Lucy ran over and stood by the hammock, opening her cordial and pouring one drop into Edmund's mouth.
Peter watched in relief as Edmund relaxed before letting out a weak cough and opening his eyes partly.
"Ed?" Peter questioned, still gripping Edmund's shoulders rather tightly.
Edmund swallowed hard, taking a deep breath as he glanced at Peter. "I -" He took another deep breath before nodding a little. "I'm alright." He whispered as he tried to sit up.
"Well, you're clearly not." Peter sighed as he helped his brother sit up.
Edmund sighed as he leant against his brother, looking over at Lucy and nodding thankfully at her.
Lucy smiled back slightly before Susan gently took hold of her hand. "We'll leave you to get some sleep Ed." She said softly, leaning over to place a kiss on the top of his head.
Edmund smiled a little and nodded. "See you tomorrow." He mumbled.
"Night." Lucy said slowly before the two left the room.
Peter took a deep breath as he turned back to Edmund, who was looking down at the ground, very clearly trying to keep his breathing even. "Ed?" Peter mumbled.
Edmund sighed, taking a deep breath. "I'm alright." He said slowly. "Just, trying not to throw up or pass out."
Peter sighed sadly, wrapping his arms back around his brother and pulling him close.
Edmund swallowed hard as he rested his head against Peter's shoulder. "I swear if I lose any more blood..." He trailed off, taking a deep breath.
Peter glanced at his brother, only now noticing just how pale he actually was, his face was so pale it was almost a grey colour. Biting his lip he tightened his grip on Edmund and placed a kiss to the top of his head. "Let's just get you cleaned up and back to bed." He mumbled.
Edmund nodded slowly, hesitantly pulling away from his brother and giving him a grateful look. "You're an absolute brick you know that?" He said with a small smile.
Peter chuckled. "You're welcome." He laughed, placing another kiss to the top of his brothers head before reaching for the bowl of water and flannel on the table.
