"This is our stop." Susan said quietly, standing and reaching up for her suitcase, as well as Lucy's.
Peter nodded slowly and nudged his brother. "Ed?" He whispered gently.
Edmund didn't move.
"Ed you need to wake up." Peter tried again, sitting in straight and bringing Edmund up with him.
Edmund mumbled something that sounded alot like an annoyed 'What?' Before his eyes flickered open.
"This is our stop." Peter explained once Edmund had woken up a bit.
Edmund stared at him for a while. "Oh." He mumbled, rubbing his eyes as he stood.
Peter stood too and grabbed both their suitcases, not handing Edmund's to him which caused him to frown. "I'll take it." Peter told him. "Dont worry."
Edmund looked about to protest but in the end just nodded, yawning loudly just as the train came to a stop.
"Come on then!" Lucy said, tugging at Susan's arm. "Mum said she'll meet us at the station!"
Susan gave her a small smile. "We're coming." She said gently, following Lucy out onto the platform.
Peter wrapped an arm around Edmund's waist and steered him after their sisters, keeping a hand on his shoudler as he scanned the platform for their Mum. "There she is." He said eventually, pointing to the back of the platform.
"Where?" Lucy asked, jumping up and down to try and see over the heads of everyone else.
"Come on." Peter said with a small chuckle, keeping his hand firmly on Edmund's shoulder as he led his siblings to their Mum.
As soon as she saw her, Lucy ran forward and flung her arms tightly around her.
"Hello Lucy." Her Mum chuckled, hugging her back.
Lucy beamed as she pulled away, Susan stepping forward for a hug.
When she pulled away their Mum turned to Peter, smiling as she hugged him, but when she pulled away and turned to Edmund, she frowned.
"Are you alright Edmund?" She asked, looking worried.
Edmund stared at her and shrugged his shoulders, looking down at the ground.
Peter sighed. "He's just really tired is all." He explained, not lying but not really telling the whole truth either. "He fell asleep on the train."
"Oh dear." Their Mum sighed. "Well I tell you what, we'll go home and I'll make some hot chocolate and we can all relax, sound good?"
Peter smiled. "Sounds great." He agreed.
"Come on then."
Peter smiled sadly down at Edmund as they followed their Mum out the station, Edmund immediately beginning to shiver as they stepped outside.
Peter sighed a little. "You want my coat?" He asked, wrapping an arm around Edmund's shoudlers and rubbing his hand up and down his arm, trying to keep him as warm as possible.
Edmund swallowed hard. "I'm fine." He mumbled, still sounding half asleep.
"You sure?" Peter said quietly, glancing ahead to see their Mum, Lucy and Susan, Lucy happily chatting away about something that had happened at school.
"I'm sure." Edmund practically whispered, resting his head on Peter's shoudler as they walked.
It didn't take them long to reach their house, and once there, their Mum immediately set about making five cups of hot chocolate.
Peter, despite Edmund's protests that "he could do it himself", helped Edmund slip out of his coat, hanging it up on the banister before they all headed into the kitchen.
"They'll be ready in a sec." Their Mum told them. "Why don't you all go sit in the living room?" She suggested.
Peter nodded and headed into the living room, his siblings following.
Edmund quiet literally collapsed onto the sofa, letting out a soft sigh as his eyes slid shut.
Peter swallowed hard and, after glancing sadly at his sisters, grabbed a blanket and draped it over his brother, who opened his eyes and gave Peter a grateful smile. "Thanks." He mumbled, pulling the blanket up to his chin.
Peter smiled sadly and sat beside him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling him close.
Edmund's eyes closed once again as he rested his head against Peter's chest, taking a deep breath when Peter placed a kiss to the top of his head.
Five minutes later their Mum walked into the room, two cups of hot chocolate in her hand. She handed them to Susan and Lucy, before going to get the others, only to stop when she spotted Edmund.
"He really is tired isnt he." She sighed sadly.
Peter swallowed hard, already knowing that his brother was asleep. "Yeah." He breathed.
"Its weird how last year he got tired and - kind ill, and this year too. I wonder why that is." Their Mum wondered.
Peter cast his sisters a quick glance before sighing. "I've no idea." He mumbled quietly. Anyway, it was better than saying "oh yeah, when we stayed with the professor we found a land at the back of the wardrobe, covered in snow because of an evil whitch who captured and tortured Edmund, before stabbing him and coming back to life more than once to do it all again."
Their Mum sighed and left the room, Peter glancing down at his brother.
"Should we let him sleep?" Lucy asked, gripping her cup tightly in her hand.
Susan nodded. "Let him sleep until dinner." She said.
Peter nodded in agreement. "That would probably be best." He sighed.
"Do you ever fell bad?" Lucy mumbled. "You know, about not telling Mum what's really going on?"
Susan sighed. "Sometimes." She muttered. "But would she really believe us if we told her the truth?"
"You never know." Lucy shrugged.
Susan shook her head. "Narnia is our little secret." She said. "And it's better if if stays that way."
Peter nodded slowly, Edmund shifting in his sleep and burying his face against Peter's shoulder.
"Let's just hope he doesn't have a nightmare." Susan sighed. "Mum will get really worried then."
"That happenened last year too, and it worried Mum quite a bit." Lucy muttered sadly, taking a sip of her chocolate.
"He'll be alright." Susan said reassuringly. "He's gotten through every winter since the witch, I'm sure he'll be fine."
Peter nodded and buried his face against Edmund's hair. "You're gonna be fine." He whispered, one tear rolling slowly down his cheek.
