Chapter 13: The Forest

'I haven't seen him in a while, but he's probably gotten roped into this stupid hunt...'

Laying flat on my bed, I know he's still watching over me like the stalker he is, I just hope he's okay. I wanna go hunting in hopes of finding him as a badger or snake (you can never be too sure with Deceit.) Instead, I'm just laying here....unblinking and still. My mind still buzzing, buzzing, buzzing of my phone snaps me out of the state of dissociation I feel. I groan as I see the contact name pop up, Logan. I ignore it then force myself up to shut the curtains. I'm met with a face that's all to familiar on the other side of the icy glass, it smiles awkwardly at me. I knew he was still watching....

I open up my window and go to speak, he puts a finger to my lips and clambers in. I stay quiet as I watch him straighten himself out, when he's satisfied he looks down at me. Then, still in silence, he wraps his arms around me. A hug? It's very unusual for Dee to give me a hug, but I return it. I'm happy to see him despite my confusion and I enjoy seeing a softer side to him. He pulls away and catches me by the shoulders and laughs to himself.
"Didn't know you could smile Virgil." He smirks, I give him a light punch in the arm and he chuckles. He lets his arms drop to his sides and sighs deeply out his nose. "I'm so sorry Virgil."
"For what?" He looks away from my confused expression.
"This whole mess, disappearing on you, everything." I forgive him obviously, I know he's got a good reason so I hear him out as he continues. "I know you must be mad but I just heard that Roman kid's name and I knew he smelt familiar, it all brought back so many memories and the fire and the screaming all the screaming." Dee covers his ears from the silence, I put a hand in his shoulder.
"Dee slow down, I'm not mad at you. I know you've been through a lot and it's been tough but right now I just need your help."
"Anything Virge." He turns to
"Dad is planning a hunt and we need to put an end to it."
"I'm happy to help."
"Oh and Dee?" He hums so I know I've got his attention. "I might've told another person I'm a vampire." He sighs.
"Just be careful." I nod and he smiles a small smile at me. He places himself on the windowsill, he crosses his legs and chuckles. "Wanna see something cool?"
"Wow me snake man." He sits up slightly and says.
"Now you see me..." He stands up on the windowsill almost hitting the ceiling. "Now you don't." Then in a flash of light he seems to be nothing but a pair of wings, a beautiful monarch butterfly. He flutters passed my face and around my head as I smile. I laugh lightly as he head for the window then wave him goodbye.
