10. Two

Scarlett POV

I am freaking out. Two days to the damn sinister moon and violet is gone. Missing. M.I.A!
I sit on the bed, my head in my hands.
Where are you Vi?
She is one of my best friends, and she suddenly disappears.
I do get why.
She saw herself with red eyes, and it scared her. It made her think, 'I'm a killing monster. A cruel, cruel monster.' I wonder what sides she's going to choose for the sinister moon.
Evil-Red.
Good-Blue.
I hope she chooses Blue. It would make the world a better place.
Sure, my family will die. Sure, I will be struck down in my youth. Sure, I'd die.
But I guess the world is a better cause, right?
I hear a large bang from next door. I bolt up.
That's Kat's room.
I zoom out the door of my dorm and knock on Kat's door.
"K-Kat?" I ask,
No reply.
I open the door slightly and gasp. The room is trashed and there are scrape marks on the wall, and.....burn marks. "Kat?" I call, just a little louder than a whisper.
She emerges from her bathroom. She has tears cascading down her face and her eyes are fully white, as if someone has put a blanket over them. Just like seekers eyes.
"K-Kat?" I ask, taking a step back.
Her eyes tear up some more. Then, I glance down at her hands. Her nails have grown longer and sharper; they almost look like they are talons from an owls feet.
And her 'talons' are on fire, white flames crackle and spark from her fingers, blazing from her palms.
She coughs a sobbing cough.
"I just read the words, I didn't know what they were" she sobs even louder.
Wow, twelve syllables. New record.
"What...words" I ask, going over to her.
She wipes her eyes; somehow the flames don't burn her skin.
"They were a spell, a curse, a....chant. They....changed.....I don't....I don't" she cries into my shoulder, touching me with the flames, but not burning me. I cringe, waiting for the pain but not receiving any.
"The flames...?"
"They only burn what I want burnt" she says into my shoulder.
Wow. She is talking normally.
I stroke her hair like she is a little child. Well, I am some what 1584 years older than her, so she basically is a child compared to me. What happened?
Where'd she get a spell?
When did this happen?
"Last.....n-night" she says, in he normal zombie way.
I sigh with relief, because she's talking like Kat again, and she just read my mind.
"I'm so, so, terribly sorry this happened to you Kat. I don't know what to do, but you have to calm down" I say, stroking her hair.
Her sobbing slowly stops but the tears still run down her face.
I sigh, clicking my fingers and Gavin appears, in a bunch of red and black smoke. He appears in the air, then crashes to the ground.
He gets up hastily, brushing himself off.
"Thanks Scar" he says with a whole bunch of sarcasm.
He takes a whole look at the room, then rests his eyes on Kat. Immediately he pulls her in for a big, comforting, bear hug.
Kat cries onto his chest (She's quite short) and tells us what happened.
Her picture had writing on it, she read it out loud, she went to the light, she touched it, then flames blazed and flickered from her fingers and her nails grew longer. She spazzed and destroyed everything.
As I look at her now, her white blanket covering her eyes disappears, and her irises are now back to red. The flames slowly drizzle away.
Her nails shrivel to their original size.
She's normal Kat again.
The tears have stopped and she lets go of Gavin.
"It....w-was wierd. I fe-felt p-p-pure" she says, looking away.
I pat her shoulder.
"I think....the flames will come in handy, cause you can use them against the destroyers" I say, trying to lighten the mood.
Gavin shrugs, he doesn't really care by the looks of it. He's all upset about Violet, she's gone and he probably thinks she's either dead or injured.
"Damn, I forgot about the Earthies" grumbles Gavin.
Oh no, we all forgot about them.
"we'll both come" I say, getting out of Kat's room a.s.a.p.
We both get food from the canteen and we go to Violets dorm.
We enter and the girls all rush over as we do.
We give them their food and I sit down on her bed.
You can't be far Vi...
"Hey" says the girl I believe is Airess. She has pale skin with cream coloured irises. Her hair is a short black pixie cut, one I used to have.
"Hey, your...Airess, right?" I ask, smiling.
"Yep, I think you can guess what I can do" she replies dryly.
I pat her shoulder,
"Yes, and I think that it's cool" I say, smiling.
She looks at me and giggles.
"You think so?" she asks.
I nod.
"Of course." I laugh. "Oh, by the way, names Scar, I'm a vampire" I shrug.
She giggles.
"Can you like, hypnotise people?" she asks, a smirk on her face.
I nod, confused.
"Can you hypnotise Gazelle to stop sending birds in here. They crap on people" she smirks.
I laugh.
"My friend, it only works on Teachers and humans."
She sighs and runs to her sister, Sapphire.
I look out to the balcony and see Petal leaning on the railing, talking to something.
I get off the bed and walk over to her, I quickly glance behind me to see Kat, talking to Winter and Gavin talking to Dethra.
I lean on the raining next to Petal.
"What's wrong?" I ask,
Petal can control nature and stuff, but not animals like I had originally thought.
That's disappointing.
She doesn't look at me, but she sighs.
"I want to be out of here, I want to go home, If there is one anyway. And I think I know where Violet is" she says, tapping her nails on the railing,
"I'm sure you'll be able to go back one d-- Wait, You know where Vi is?!?" I squeal.
She puts her finger up to her lips, "shhhh."
She twirls a strand of wavy black hair and pierces me with her immense green eyes.
"I have been talking to the trees, and they know where she is, but they said that you won't go and get her, okay . So I also spoke to the moss, they can get see better, and they said that she is fine, not harmed in any way" she says so calmly.
I sigh.
"But if we leave her..." I start but Petal shakes her head.
"We have to, I think she is doing something important, but the trees aren't sure what it is. The moss diss that she said, and I quote-'I have to do this, it's important' and I think she had it all under control."
Ugh, so difficult.
"Okay, okay, okay. I get it. I get it" I say, pinching the bridge of my nose.
She sighs and pats my shoulder.
"I'm sorry."
She walks away and another walks up to me.
It's Sapphire.
"Scar, I have noticed something" she says, leaning on the balcony.
I look at her uneasily.
"Yeah? What's that" I say placidly.
She looks at me, her piercing blue eyes stare at me.
Gosh, they all are so piercing!
"You don't want to die. Witches are either good or bad, since we are Earth witches, we are good, except Dethra, so I have to say, I'm not worried at all,
But I see that your scared, you haven't had time to find love, to have kids, to do anything you want to do" she looks away at the last bit.
I look at her, not saying anything. I stiffly nod and walk out the door, not caring about anything.
I haven't thought about it like that. There has been so many things I haven't done, that in two days, I can never do.
I speed off to my room and shut the door behind me. I lean on the door and slide down. I start to cry.
I don't want to die.
I don't like this.
I want to live.
I want to be a survivor.
