After roughly an hour of walking, I finally made it to Falls End, it was a very small town, yet somehow, it was the biggest town in Hope County. I walked through town until I came to the Spread Eagle, a very popular little bar, owned by an old friend, Mary May Fairgrave.
I walked into the bar, sitting down on one of the stools at the bar, I ordered myself a beer, sadly Mary May was nowhere to be seen, "is Mary May here today?" I asked the man behind the bar.
He looked slightly suspicious of me, "no, she's in Henbane River, why? Who are you?" 'Yep, he definitely doesn't trust me' "uhh, I'm an old friend? I just wanted to say hi. Hey... is there a phone here I could use? I lost mine" 'damn John Seed, he owes me a new phone'
The man didn't say anything, he just nodded to a phone on a nearby wall, "thanks" the bartender obviously didn't care about what I had to say, so I just walked away from the bar and to the phone.
When I got to the phone i didn't waste anytime dialing Nicks phone number, we chatted for a minute, he was glad I was okay and wanted to know what happened, I promised him I would explain what happened in person, he agreed to come to the bar and to bring Boomer.
~~~~TEN MINUTES LATER~~~~
It didn't take long for Nick to arrive, he didn't live very far after all. What I didn't expect was for Nick to come in with a very pregnant woman 'that must be Kim!' I immediately jumped up to greet them.
Nick, of course, gave me a big hug, he then turned to the woman, "Kim, this is Ellana, my best friend" I always loved it when Nick said I was his best friend, mostly because it always made Boshaw mad.
"It's so nice to finally meet you" Kim pulled me into a gentle hug, 'ah, she's a hugger, just like Nick' "Nick has told me so much about you!"
"Likewise! I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your wedding, I really wanted to com-" Kim cut me off with the wave of her hand "don't be silly, you have nothing to apologize for!"
"So, as much as I love you two chattin and gettin along, Ellie, how did you get away from those damned peggies?" Nick chimed in.
"Well, it's a long story, but I guess we have plenty of time" so we sat down, ordered some burgers and I told them in very deep detail about what happened with the Seeds, I thought it would be best if I left out the part where they asked me for help.
After a little while of chatting, Nick and Kim left, i also found out that Kim had driven my truck, so that was good, because now I actually have a way to get home.
Although, I didn't feel like going home just yet, so me and Boomer walked through the small town, eventually coming up to the old church, there was a large sign in front of of the church that read 'TODAYS READING: JEREMIAH 23:16' "hmm, Jerome picked a fitting scripture" Jerome Jeffries was the pastor when I left, and a good one at that, so I can only assume that he still holds the position.
I walked up to the church and through the doors, Boomer stayed outside so he could relax in the sun 'lucky dog'
The church was empty, thankfully, I was hoping to talk to Jerome alone, I was planning on telling him everything that happened with the seeds, I wanted his opinion, he was always very wise when I was younger, I always looked up to him.
"'For I know the plans I have for you' declares the lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future' Jeremiah 29:11" Jerome turned around while reading his bible, he looked up, and spoke directly to me 'how did he even know I was here?'
"It's good to see you Jerome" I hugged the older man, taking in his scent, he smelled like lilacs, he always smelled like lilacs.
"You are troubled Ellana" Jerome had a sadness in his eyes, it must be hard for him, with everything that's going on, I heard that years ago, Jerome and Joseph Seed were friends. "Tell me what troubles you, Ellana"
