I knew Aiden was watching me to see what I would do, and I gritted my teeth, fighting the urge to get up and go and find her.
"This is not unusual for her, she used to frequently miss meals, try not to think the worse" Tim offered and I knew he was right but I didn't care, although the threat was gone, with Natalie and Jonah expelled, she should be safe, no one was targeting her... I glanced around the room, checking that all the usual people were accounted for, and that those who may have thought about taking up where Nat left off were in my sights. The bell rang for start of classes and I growled, knowing that I would have no chance now of seeing her till lunchtime as all my classes were on the other side of the campus to hers.
"Relax, if I see her I will let you know" Aiden promised, lifting up his bag and leading the way out of the room. Turning left, as Tim and I headed right towards our lessons."Did you scare her or something last night?" Tim asked as we walked across the quad and I thought about his words. Had I? My mind went over everything I had said and done and her reaction at the time and I wondered if I had come on to strong, but I couldn't stop myself kissing her cheek as I left, was that it?
"Fuck, I hope not, she didn't seem scared" I tell him and he looks at me.
"You kissed her?"
"Yes, No... just on her cheek when I wished her good night and..."
"And what?" he laughs at me.
"And i might have told her to dream of me" I hiss at him embarrassed.Tim laughs slapping me on my shoulder. "Maybe she did dream of you and is embarrassed about it" he suggests and I think about my own dreams about her and grin softly.
"God, I hope so, whatever it is, I need to get her number so I can check in with her and not worry" I reply with a smile, feeling a little lighter as we reach our class.Aiden's text came between classes, she was in class and looked to be okay, he would bring her to us at lunch.
Class over, I rushed to the dining room, bagging the corner table as I waited for them to arrive, Tim had gone to get a selection of food for all of us to share and was just returning as Aiden came through the door his arm through Camilla's, his gaze quickly spotting Tim heading our way with a loaded tray, he guided her towards me.
I stood and pulled out the chair next to me, watching her blush as she sat down on it, her bag sliding down her arm to her feet.
"We missed you this morning" I said softly and she looked at me in surprise.
"Why?"
I thought about how to answer her, but Aiden spoke first.
"I told you we are all friends now and we were worried, so don't do it again" he scolded her as he sat down opposite. "In fact give me your phone, I will text us all your number and then you'll have ours, so if anything happens, you can let us know"
I grin at him, as once again his manner with her helps me get the information I want.
"No, I'm not giving it to you" she argues and Tim laughs as he hands her a drink.
"Give in now, he will keep on till you do it"
I grin at her as well "Please Millie, just in case you ever need us"
Her gaze darts between all of us and she finally shakes her head in defeat, reaching into her pocket for her phone and handing it over to Aiden. "Don't make me regret it" she warns us, the fiery glint back in her eye and we all smile and nod at her.
"Promise" we all say together, causing us all to laugh, and breaking the tension.
We dug into the food as Aiden fiddled with her phone before our phones all pinged. "Done" he said handing the phone back to her. Millie glanced at the screen before gasping and turning red, her hand coming up to smack at Aiden across the table.
"Don't change it" he laughed at her and she blushed again.
"What did he do?" I asked curious, reaching over and plucking the phone out of her hand before she could object.
The screen showed the text Aiden had sent and the names he had allocated us in her phone. 'My Awesome Aiden, My Terrific Tim and My Kutie Kristian'. I laughed and looked at him "You spelt cutie wrong but I like it". He laughed as Millie growled and reached for her phone, her warm body stretching across me to take it from my hand. I froze at the feel of her, so soft and warm and her scent filled all my senses, before teasing her by holding it just out of reach.
"Kris please" she gasped softly and I stared down into her upturned face, her eyes meeting mine and I smiled, moving her phone close enough for her to reach.
"I like it when you say my name" I whispered and enjoyed the sight of her blush again, before she hid her face behind her hair and focussed on her food.
A quick glance at Aiden and Tim and we changed the subject, allowing the focus of the conversation to flow around Millie without her needing to engage.
As the warning for afternoon classes rang, I turned to face her "Please eat with us tonight, I know it may seem stupid but I... we worry about you, after what I did, I hate to see you alone" I see her eyes flare and jump back in before she can argue "it's not pity!" I quickly assure her and she nods at me, her glance going to the others as well.
"If you re sure I am not intruding" she tells us softly and we all reassure her, we want her there.
"Thank you" she replied, piling the rubbish onto the tray as we got ready to leave.Once again classes drag as I count down the hours till I see her again, I wonder what she has planned for the weekend, maybe she would do something with me, or us if it was more comfortable for her, I would ask her later.
