"Hey, Isaac" said Chase the next day and knocked on the doorframe to my room, "There's a letter here for you" continued Chase and handed me a letter with a wax-seal. "Do you know who it's from?" I asked and looked at the symbol of the wax-seal, but it was to no avail. "No, I have no clue!" replied Chase and leaned against the wall to see me open the letter.
I broke the seal of the letter and opened it up the see a really well written letter. I can't recall much from it, but what I do remember was that it was from my dad, wanting to meet me in person and he said that he was sorry to hear about my mother's passing.
I didn't believe him though. I mean, I believed that he probably wanted to meet me, but I didn't really believe that he was sorry about my mother.
"It's from dad." I replied and looked to see Chase's reaction.
He looked shocked as he ran and grabbed the letter out of my grasp to see what it said. "This is such bullshit!" he yelled on the top of his lungs and threw the letter on to the floor, "What is it?!" yelled Steven from the other room, followed with large and fast footsteps leading to my room.
"It's a letter from dad, inviting Isaac to his house" replied Chase annoyed and frustrated, "What does it say?" asked Steven hopeful to be invited as well, "Its over there" simply replied Chase and pointed to the floor where the letter was.
Steven almost dove to the floor to see the letter and upon reading it, he was also disappointed. "Why only you?" Steven asked and also threw the letter on the floor.
They both looked at me, like as if I had all the answers in this situation, but I didn't know anything? Why would my dad only invite me?
"When does it say that you're supposed to come?" asked Chase and sighed in exhaustion. "In two weeks" I replied as I picked up the letter and skimmed through the letter once more, "Ok, I'll drive you" said Chase, even though I knew he was bitter about my invitation.
"Come on, let's go make some breakfast" said Chase and grabbed both me and Steven and walked us down the stairs and into the kitchen. "So, what do you guys want?" asked Chase and grabbed one of the aprons he had neatly folded and had originally packed away. "I'll have toast" replied Steven and grabbed three plates for us, "I want blueberry pancakes" I replied and looked to see the both of them turned silent.
"Yeah, I want pancakes too" replied Steven and broke the awkward silence. "Then I better get to cooking" said Chase and scoffed before he grabbed a few pots and pans.
"Are you excited to get back to school?" asked Steven and genuinely shocked me as he showed interest in health and welfare. "Yeah. I mean it's been a long time away from Mitch and all the fraternity guys" I replied and took a sip from the glass of water Chase had given the each of us. "And you haven't seen Justin for a while either?" asked Steven and caught me off-guard, making me choke from the water.
"What was that?" said Steven and turned to me, watching my reaction. "I saw the letter he wrote to you" whispered Steven into my ear, "I know about you and him" he continued but acted normally whenever Chase turned around to check on us.
"Nothing happened between us, he is a lying filthy snake!" I replied and finally left the kitchen table and went to sit by myself on the living room couch.
