Chapter XXIX

"U found the flag!"

Five hours passed.

The Black Shield soldiers hunting the red flag were all tired. All of that anger and nothing to vent it on made them more and more agitated. They spread out their search to cover a larger area, growing bolder, but no trace of the flag could be found.

Even Shen Wei and Da Qing, are both resting for a while breathing a mouthful of fetid air. The first sensation to wash over them was a burning thirst, for it'd been 5 hours without a sip of water.

The thirst didn't bother Shen Wei, but the soldiers had been busily searching for more than an hour without rest. They were certainly worse off.

A few moments later, Lin Jing and Sang Zan drew near. Both looked dejected and short of temper.

Lin Jing muttered from behind his companion. "We've searched this area a dozen times, the flag has to be miles away from here. There's no way it's going to show up here, and you know I'm right."

Sang Zan grunted. "Five hours and we've never seen it around here. We've been with the Unit for a year and then THIS is our training mission? Ugh."

"If you both cannot continue, turn around. It's still not too late now." Da Qing said plainly.

Shen Wei looked over at his friend, whose blank eyes stared unblinking at the sight and stand up from his seat. "I'll go search for it, you guys stay here and follow me after you're done resting your ass off."

"Shen Wei, if you are to step into that deep of the forest, you will truly be placing yourself in great danger."

Seeing that Shen Wei seems to not hear anything and was still persisting onward Da Qing did not say anything and let his friend continue on searching. He was too tired to get up.

Apart from them, the person who had been keeping an eye on the flag was actually there the entire time. Merely, he had not shown himself. Thus, Shen Wei and others had no idea at all that this old senior was also behind them, observing all that had happened the entire time.

"Let's hope that he'll be fine. Else… if a genius like him is to die because of me, I will also feel very apologetic," Lin Jing sighed emotionally.

The forest was vast. A few ancient trees stretched over a thousand meters into the sky. Meanwhile, the ancient vines were even more so like enormous snakes as they winded about entire mountains, radiating a sparkling green light.

Inside the dense mountain forest, the leaves were several feet wide with all types of poisonous bugs and ferocious animals roaming about.

This was the conclusion Shen Wei reached after carefully observing the place.

However, as he walked deeper into the forest, as he glance around and discover that long, thin roots stretched from the bottoms of the trees towards the heart of the forest.

After marching for hours, Shen Wei arrived at the heart of the forest, where he discovered that the roots of the old trees were actually stretching into a shallow pond, which was filled with murky, green water.

After not finding anything, gazing in the distance, he discovered the mysterious red flag from the left side was already facing him from afar.

A dark smile spread on Shen Wei's face as he sees it. He already felt like he and his team had won. He just needed to walk from there and get that flag but, would it be easy?

What if it's just a trap?

Thus, Shen Wei managed to see the flow of the battlefield, so in this situation most likely is a set of trap.

Instantly, Shen Wei hid as much as possible in the bushes.The flag closest to Shen Wei's present location was 110 meters away.

It wouldn't be long and his team would back him up, however!

"...?"

Shen Wei looked up at the sky. It was just before the sun was about to set. If things went according to Shen Wei's plan, it was time for his team to arrive here and help him out if it's a trap. Then why?

'Why haven't they arrived yet?'

Shen Wei was busy observing the flag and anyone that might pop up from there when someone grab his shoulder. His eyes gradually grew wider by the sudden touch. He genuinely had no idea that something as simple as running could be this beneficial.

Just like a tiger, he act with full alertness. Shen Wei grabbed the person's wrist and try to stands from where he hid. Without further assurance, he kicked the person who appears behind him but the person blocked it like a pro.

"You..!"

This is the twice time his eyes widened in shocked but not in fear but by the person who appear before his eyes.

Just like what I promise and I'll try to finish this so that I could come up with other stories to write someday. And if everyone is confused? I reedit my previous update and reedit it to Chapter 18 which is the continuation of this chapter😉
