Short chapter but its setting up for what happens next!
It turns out Dalton and Drew had been on their way back from the store getting cups and ping pong balls. Beer pong must be a big thing tonight. As soon as we got to the house I went to search for Brady. I found him in the kitchen mixing himself a drink. He put the cup down and tackled me into a hug.
"Lyrieee, its about damn time I see you!" He laughed.
I could smell the alcohol on him, not that his text hadnt been any indication he was practically drunk. "You make it sound like I havent seen you in months!"
"Its feeeeeels that way!"
"Oh hush. I suppose I should be spending more time with you though, before you head off for over a month on tour."
"You mean the tour you're coming with us on?"
I rolled my eyes at him, "You still havent come to terms with me not going, have you?"
He smiled a bit mischievous, "We will see about that."
I wanted to know why he was wearing that particular smirk but before I could ask he was handing me a drink. "Nah, Im not drinking tonight." Alcohol plus depression was not a good combo.
"Sure you are, its a party, we drink." He shoved the cup back into my hand.
This boy was exhausting me and I had only been here for 5 minutes. I took the drink figuring I could leave it somewhere and pretend I drank it. My plan had been working until Brady had volunteered me to be his BP partner. Its okay, as long as we win I wont have to drink much. I immediately went into competition mode and we kicked our opponents ass. However, this meant we would continue to play until defeated. Damn, I didnt think this one through. We played two more games and I was starting to feel a buzz. The want to win was out weighing my need to be sober. I had to get out of this situation fast. I considered throwing the next game but my pride wouldnt let me. I opted for telling Brady that I was feeling dizzy and needed to go sit down.
"Are you okay?" He asked with concern.
"Yes, yes. I just need to sit for a second. The adrenaline and the alcohol arent mixing well. I will be fine, I promise."
"Okay. If you need anything let me know. Oh, and go grab some water in the kitchen, it should help."
"Will do!" It made me smile that he cared so much.
I made my way to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. On my way out, I ran into Drew. "Lyrie! Hey giiiirl, whats up? Why are you drinking water? Take some shots with me!"
When Drew and Dalton picked me up, I knew Drew was tipsy. It seemed now he was full on drunk, still I had to laugh. "Ha, do you even remember picking me up?
"Duuuuuh, I was in the car!"
"Okay just making sure. You sounded like you hadnt seen me today."
"Pssh yeah I remember. Anyways, shots!" He was already pouring them for us.
"I think I'll stick with my water, thanks though."
He grabbed my water and put it down his pants, "You can have it back after we do some shots, deal?"
"Umm, no you can keep it now." I couldnt believe that his drunk ass managed to get that from me.
"Just one? Pleeeeeaaaseeeeee."
He was giving me sad eyes, "Dammit fine, but just one."
I took one from the counter and tilted my head back swallowing whatever he had given me. It burned slightly which made me think this was not just one kind of alcohol. I ducked out of there before he could con me into doing anymore. I was already out back when I realized he never gave me back my water. Ugh jerk. I gave it about 10 minutes before I went back to the kitchen. I detoured through the living room when I saw Drew coming my way. I hope hes too drunk to have noticed me.
The lights were low in there so I had to constantly watch where I was stepping to make sure I didnt trip. My eyes caught something, er rather someone. Dalton was on the couch and some little blond chick in a short dress was sitting on his lap. The site bothered me and my stomach felt sick. I knew it wasnt because of the drinks I'd had. He caught my eye and I bolted to the kitchen. A half empty bottle of tequila was sitting on the counter. I opened it and starting drinking it straight. I had a few big gulps and set it down. The room was spinning now. Bad idea Lyrie. I took another water bottle and headed up the stairs.
I locked myself in the bathroom and slowly slid down the wall to sit. I closed my eyes and banged my head back against the wall. Why did I come here again? That was the last thing I wanted to see tonight. My thoughts were getting hazy. I chugged the water in hopes it would help. Im not okay with this. The water made the room stop spinning but I still couldnt think straight. When I heard a knock, I decided to leave. I couldnt hog the bathroom the entire night. The spare bedroom is where I took my pity party. How is it that even at a damn party, I manage to be moping in bed?
Someone knocked on the door, I didnt get up to answer. I swear if two people come through that door wanting to have sex in this room, Im going to hurt someone. The door opened. It was Dalton. I got up, "What are you doing here?"
"You alright? I saw you come in here."
"Yeah Im fine. Shouldnt you be occupying a certain blond?" I wasnt in the mood to play games tonight.
He stepped closer, "Nah, she wasnt really my type."
"You two looked pretty cozy." I was clearly still upset.
He put his arms around me and hugged me tight. I sighed into him taking in his intoxicating smell of whiskey and cologne. The anger was gone now. I looked up at him and the look in his eyes was all too familiar. I stepped back not wanting things to take a turn for the worse.
"Lyrie..." The way he said my name made me weak at the knees. My inhibitions were lowering with every second he stared into my eyes. Judging by the smile playing on his lips, he knew exactly what he was doing to me. Fuck.
