The fear

Life is full of surprises.  Mine is. Where I expected love and happiness, I got tears and pain;  where I thought I should accept being judged and hated,  I was respected and welcomed. The red file on the table in front of me, shows how surprising life can be.  My father is the last person I expected to help me.

"Manu! " I heard Swetcha yell.  I turned to her to see her enter into the room, looking at me alarmed.

"you, okay? " she asked as she searched my face frantically, like she was looking for any injury or sign of mr being hurt.

I nodded and looked back at the file. Should I believe him? Should I take a chance?

"What's in that file?  Why are you at it? "

"Something important and unexpected! "

"what is it about?"

"About the same thing we have been searching for!  The person who took loan on our companies behalf." I got up and started pacing.  "I mean we have searching for the mole, that person for such long time with such despetayand he walks in and gives me information that easily.  I.. " I throw my hands up in the air. "I don't what to think.  He was never there for me.  He threw me away to the wolves for his benefit. And today he comes back, to help me, when I needed it the most.  I am in a moral dilemma. Take the help or deal it on my own. But I am not really able deal with an I? "

Swetcha walked up to me and held me hands firmly.  "First!  Stop pacing. Right now is not the time to think if you want to take your father's help or not. You are thinking it the wrong way. Your thought process should be, how fast do I find out about the problem that can crush Dev,  the same  Dev, who can go to any lengths to keep you happy".

And suddenly, taking help from one person whom I wanted to prove I am worth it,  did not matter. I immediately walked back to the table and opened the file.  It had everything I needed. Now I just have to play the cards right. I smiled at Swetcha thanking her for the guidance. She merely nodded.

I stood and was about to walk out when Sammy walked in.
"Heyyo!  Vadina.  Wassup? "

I got startled because of the sudden intrusion and hence held a hand on my chest, took a long deep breathe.

"You got scared! " he exclaimed raising an eyebrow.
I just shook my head.

"No no Vadina, you got scared!  I know you did. Why did you get scared?"
He looked at me intently and that moment he resembled my husband so much, it almost bought a smile on my face.

"Is it because of the file in your hand? "
I just raised my eyebrow and shook my head in denial.

"A-ha!" he clapped and continued, "it is so because of the file.  Come on tell me what is in it? " he said rubbing his hands.

I put my hands on hips and narrowed my eyes in him, while he showed me his infamous yet cute puppy dog eyes.
"please Vadina! Please!"

"Sammy, you are still a kid, I will ask your help when go grow up, " I said slowly as if I was talking to a child.
He slumped his shoulders, and I started walking towards the door.

I was about to open the door when he said, "fine then, I am kid, let's involve elders and call Dev Annayya. Because I  sure he will tell me".

That had me stop in tracks.

"You don't want me telling Annayya! Awesome! " for someone who is so jovial, immature and uninterested in future, he sure is observant.

"okay here is the deal. I will not tell Annayya, you are hiding something from him, if you tell what you are hiding from him".
