Remington is released from hospital and his things are moved into Sebastian and Larisa's place, where the spare room is ready for him.
He hangs up his shirts and jackets carefully, cautious of his delicate wound.
Since it reopened, he's been so scared of it happening again. Everything he does is so cautious, so overly careful.
The boy slowly descends the stairs and settles in the arm chair in the living room, his medications making him sleepy and un motivated. Sebastian is playing a video game and Larisa is out working.
Remington watches his brother playing the game for a while, trying to clear his head. He feels like his life is falling to pieces.
He wants to confront Holly, ask why she did it, why she hates him so much.
He wants closure.
"Hey, Remington, you okay?" Sebastian asks, concerned.
With a nod, Remington sighs. "I want to know why she did it," he says, "I need to know why." His eyes are tearing up. He doesn't know why. "But I'm fine."
Sebastian frowns. He switches off the television. "No you're not," he says, "but that's okay. You're not alone."
The gentle words make him smile. The singer rubs his eyes and yawns. "I wish I could get a fucking full night's sleep," he mumbles, "I'm so fucking tired." His voice is quiet, soft, shaky.
"You're strong, you'll get through this. I know you will."
Remington looks up at his brother. "Sebastian?" The man hums. "I want to see Holly in prison. I want to talk to her." He sounds so serious, so certain, and Sebastian knows his brother won't give in until he gets what he desperately wants. What he desperately needs.
Larisa gets home in the early evening and the three have dinner. Remington doesn't eat much, paranoid about his stomach.
They watch shitty television and then disappear to bed.
Remington is restless. He tries to work out why she hates him.
Because he's weak?
Because he is kind to other women?
Because he is friends with other women?Because he let her do that to him?
It must be his fault. Right? It has to be.
Why else would she put him through hell? There must be a reason. There has to be.He can't keep doing this every night. He can't keep tearing himself apart. It's not healthy.
Remington ventures out of the room and knocks on the door to his brothers bedroom. After hearing a, "what?" he opens the door.
The older man is sitting in bed with his fiancé and his phone. He looks up at the boy standing in the doorway. "What's up?"
Remington's hands are shaking. He fiddles with his rings. "I-I think I'm gonna have a panic attack," he stutters.
Sebastian stands up. "I think we need to get you some sleeping pills," he tells the boy, and guides him into the spare bedroom. He sits Remington on the bed and crouches in front of him. "You're safe," he whispers, "you're safe. Deep breaths."
With a pained expression, Remington takes his brother's hand. "I'm sorry."
"Shush-no. Don't you dare apologise." He rubs the boy's shoulder. "You need me to stay with you?"
Remington nods. He's grateful that he didn't have to ask. "Would you?" He yawns again.
"Of course."
The two lie under the covers and Remington drifts off eventually, his head ending up on his brother's chest.
Sebastian doesn't want to move to risk disturbing the boy so just stays there.
The door is opened and Larisa sends him a questioning look. "He's sleeping," the man mouths.
Larisa doesn't really understand what went on. The brothers are keeping all the information protected. She understand that. It'll be chaos if it gets out. She nods. "Love you," she mouths back, blowing a kiss.
"I love you," Sebastian returns.
Just like any other night, Remington's mind is riddled with violent images and scary sounds. His eyes bolt open and he gasps, trembling.
When will it end?
The boy checks the time. Its only three in the morning.
He lies back down and exhales heavily. Sebastian is sleeping beside him and he doesn't have the heart to wake him.
For a while, Remington lies awake, just thinking.
He needs to see her.
An hour passes and finally he wakes his brother. Neither of the say anything, Sebastian just wraps the younger in his arms.
Morning comes around and Sebastian gets out of bed carefully to avoid waking Remington. He gets dressed and then goes down to make breakfast.
Larisa is in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil. She greets her fiancé with a kiss. "Remington okay?"
The guitarist hums. "He's having nightmares," he explains.
Remington emerges past midday, yawning and rubbing his eyes.
He looks drained.
He sits in a chair at the breakfast bar and groans, stomach hurting. He hast taken his pills yet.
Sebastian gets the singer his painkillers and a glass of water. "We've got therapy today," he reminds the boy, "it was meant to be at 10 but you were sleeping, so I called and moved it to 2, okay?"
Remington mumbles a response and puts his head on the table. He wants to go to sleep and never wake up.
By two, the three brothers are situated in the therapists House, Remington yawning and rubbing his eyes every few minutes.
Dr Beckley gives the boys a moment to get settled before talking. "I didn't see you last week, Remington," he says.
The singer wants to go to sleep. "Was in hospital," he mumbles, "stitches opened."
The doctor frowns. "Why did you get stitches?"
Remington is too tired to avoid the question. "I was stabbed," he answers, and both his brothers exchange glances. They never thought they'd hear him say it. Remington opens his mouth again. "And raped."
