She slid the window open looking behind her. Her twin brother was protectively holding onto their little sister and brother.

She smiled slightly before stepping onto the windowsill. She turned and grabbed onto the side of the building searching for the brick she always used to climb. She found it and pushed off beginning her climb.

She didn’t worry about any of the bricks. She searched for the next one almost climbing to the room. She looked down, seeing that she was 40 feet up. She laughed slightly. She was almost at the top then she could see the stars.

She pulled herself up and slipped not realizing that it had snowed earlier that day. She fell back trying to clutch onto something but everything was going so fast.

She tried to grab a piece but pulled it instead. This caused her to smash into the side of the building.

Her eyes went dark as she was free falling to death.

He was walking enjoying a lovely evening. He had his rabbit in his hand and was quickly getting back home before his Dad and Mom were supposed to get home.

When suddenly a scream caused him to look upwards.

“What the..?” He muttered as he dodged a brick that almost hit him in the head.

Then he saw a girl, a girl around his age who was in a free fall.

“Oh, no!” He mumbled as anxiety filled him. “Oh, gods what do I do?!”

“Save her you idiot!” His rabbit said from his arms gesturing wildly with his paw at the girl.

“Okay, okay!” he said, casting a spell on himself.

He put his rabbit down patting him on the head instinctively.

“Stay here, Patch,” he mumbled to the rabbit before running forward towards the spot the girl would fall.

He bent his knees and using the spell he had cast; he jumped up. As he jumped up, he grabbed her holding her bridal style and slowed down the fall of them both.

She was unconscious but even so she was stunning. He had never seen someone so beautiful. He felt a blush creep up his neck.

But for a nine-year-old, he didn’t realize that he had met his soul mate. Not that many knew soul mates were real.

As his feet gently landed on the ground. He saw her eyes flicker before quickly opening.

“Let go of me!” She cried trying to get free.

“Okay, okay,” he said gently setting her on the ground.

She quickly tried to back away but her head made everything begin to spin. She swayed and fall.

“I’ve got you, I’ve got you,” he said gently picking her up again. “I know a healer it’s going to be okay.”

She didn’t fight him just curled slightly into him. Her head felt like it was pounding and all she knew was her head really hurt.

“I’ll take you to my Mom,” he told her bending and picking up, his rabbit, Patch, and putting him in his satchel.

He then ran her towards his house. Trying to go as fast as possible.

“What’s.. what’s your name?” She asked trying to distract herself from the pain in her head.

“Rakim Ray,” he told her slightly smiling.

“What is your name Miss?” He asked making sure to be polite, kind, and a gentleman. But also taking his mother's advice to not be as flirtatious as Dad.

“Alice,” she said closing her eyes gently trying to calm. “Alice Dream Wydle Lancaster.”

“That’s a beautiful name,” he said with a smile as he kept running.

She didn’t say anything all that showed it made her happy was the small smile that crossed her face.

A group of people crossed their path. Blocking Rakim from going anywhere.

“Hey sorry do you mind moving I have to go back to my house,” Rakim said gently and calmly but he held Alice tighter not trusting the men.

“Give us the girl, child, and you can go home,” one man said moving closer towards him.

“No,” Rakim said standing taller. “You cannot have her and I don’t need your permission to go home.”

“Shame we’ll just have to kill you then last chance kid,” the man said taking another step forward.

Rakim muttered a spell teleporting behind the men before he started running faster.

A dart hit him causing him to stop abruptly.

“Rakim?” Alice asked quietly.

“Shush,” he muttered low to her. “Stay quiet and don’t worry Patch will find help he is smarter than he looks.”

“Wait-“ she started to say, but her environment shifted as she teleported. Alice was propped up against something. She wasn’t with Rakim the satchel the only thing she had was his satchel around her.

“No-“ she started, but a hand went to her mouth.

The rabbit had his small hand on her mouth giving her a look like be quiet.

Alice was stunned and hoped that Rakim would be okay.

Rakim fell hard to the ground feeling his eyes begin to have black dots at his vision.

“The girl is gone!” Another man said pushing Rakim onto his back.

“Take the boy,” the main man growled at the other.

“Didn’t you say you were going to kill him, sir?” The other man asked, looking confused.

“Are you deaf?” The main man asked glaring at the other. “Take him you fool!”

And darkness filled Rakim’s eyes as he was picked up. He only hoped as he fell unconscious that Alice would be safe.
