"So, Cecil, can you explain what it is that you do here at the radio station?"
Cecil glanced at the camera. "I, um, I host the Welcome To Night Vale news station."
Ryan leaned forward slightly. "So you report on the news? Have you reported on anything...strange?"
"Anything spoopy?" Shane smiled.
Cecil laughed, Shane's comment helping him to recover his nerve. "You might say that. Here in Night Vale, it's just...the news. No one sees it as particularly strange, but to outsiders, yes, I suppose it would certainly seem odd. As a matter of fact, I still remember when Carlos called me to inform me that none of the clocks here are real. We all knew that!"
"The what aren't what?" Shane asked. Ryan looked at his co-host, unsurprised to find him barely holding back incredulous laughter.
"Yes, that's how Carlos sounded too. But once he got used to the irregular time flow here, everything was fine."
"Carlos the scientist?" Ryan asked as Shane shook in silent fits of laughter.
"Oh, yes," Cecil got a distracted and almost dreamy look in his eyes. "Carlos the scientist, with his beautiful, perfect hair."
"It certainly is quite nice," Shane confirmed, cheeks still flushed.
"You've met him?" Cecil asked.
"Yeah, we tried to interview him earlier, but he...didn't seem to be feeling too great. Nice guy, though."
"Not feeling well?" Cecil seemed slightly concerned, and almost like he wanted to get up, but he shook himself and looked back at the two men he was talking to. "Well, I'm sure he'll be alright. He is very good at that."
There was a brief moment of awkward silence, then Shane leaned forward and asked, with a stupid grin on his face, "So, can you tell us more about this news? Or the clocks?"
Ryan sighed a little, but he had to admit that he agreed with what Shane clearly was thinking. It all had to be a load of crap.
Cecil, though, didn't seem perturbed. "Well," He began, "Most of it, we aren't supposed to know about or talk about, and besides, it doesn't exist anyway, but, let's see, there's the glowing lights up above the Arby's...That's probably not normal in other places..."
Ryan grinned as Shane muttered something about aliens.
"...I'm not sure if we have the only Whispering Forest, but if we do, that probably qualifies...I'm sorry, I just don't know what you'd consider weird."
"Um..." Ryan said, caught slightly off guard, "It's fine. I think we have enough to go off of here, so...yeah."
"It's been fun," Shane said, still amused by everything.
"Yep!" Cecil agreed as the cameras stopped rolling, glad to have the filming over with.
As the crew packed up, Ryan excused himself to use the bathroom.
A moment later, a shout of surprise echoed throughout the building. Shane rushed over to make sure his friend was ok, and Cecil followed. Looking in, they saw Ryan staring at a cat floating several feet off the ground.
"Hmm...I suppose I should have realized Khoshekh would be a surprise for you."
