5 Years Later..
Ever since I settled into Albany, I've slowly started adjusting to everything. My Manhattan accent shifted slightly to sound like the rest of the people in New Jersey.

I also picked up a few friends her with the newsies. Gio, Spike, Josh, and Henry are all very close to me.

It was the same concept as Manhattan. Dress up as a boy, sell, eat, and repeat. I've gotten better at selling too, started to sell 100 papes a day.

My male alias, Lucky, was said to be tiny yet deadly. After all, I stood at 5'3 while as my lamppost guy friends over her at 5'9+.

I'm slowly increasing my status. Becoming more and more powerful. Climbing towards 150 papes a day, working out, and trying to stretch tog get taller, I was thriving.

Correction.. I was trying to thrive. Deep down. Last all the fake praises and friendships I've made here, lie my past. The streets, the orphanage, Manhattan... Spot. But I push past it. For my rough life in the streets and orphanage taught me how to be tough and fight. My days in 'Hattan taught me the lifestyle.

And Spot.. he taught me love. He taught me heart break. He taught me never to let my walls down. He exposed my one vulnerability..

CURRENT TIME
Kris POV
I yawn as I sit up in my bunk. I run the sleep out of my eyes as I swing my legs over the bed frame and stare out the window. The faint snores of the boys filling the comfortable silence.

I decided to get a head start. Today was the day I was finally going to sell 150 papes.

I went into my washroom and did all my hygiene routines. I brushed out my hair and stuffed it in my cap. I pulled up some black trousers, a white t- shirt and a brown vest.

As I finished preparing for the day to come, I heard the boys quarreling with one another. I rolled my eyes and reentered the sleeping quarters. I went behind Josh and Spike and slapped their bare back.. hard, "put a lid on it and get ready!" I scolded.

Josh just snickered at my mother like tone, whereas Spike slapped his ass and said "I think your target was down here!". I chuckled and slapped my forehead. I went on down to a cafe across the street. Whenever I woke up early, I'd pass time waiting on the boys by getting breakfast.

"Aye, 'morning Lucky!" Chance, my usual waiter, beamed. I returned a genuine smile and greeted him back. Somehow, Chance was one of the few people left that can pull a genuine smile from me.

"What'll it be?" he asked. "The usual, please."

"Right away!" and in a flash he was gone. I sighed once more. I sat down beside the window where the sunlight poured in. I pulled out a small book and began to read as I waited.

As I read through my book, the sun soaked into my skin. It made me feel happy. The feeling of summer was finally setting in once more.

I was knocked out of my daydream by a shadow. "Your order sir". I picked up my cup of coffee and bagel and invited Chance to sit down. He was one of the people outside of the newsies that new my gender secret.

After a while of chatting and breakfast with Chance, the boys barged through the door and stuck their heads around the corner. I out my fingers to rub my temples, embarrassed of their obnoxious entrance.

"Let's go Lucky!" they ALL chimed.

"Your friends?" Chance smirked. "More like my headaches.." I jokingly chuckled. I payed for my food and said goodbye to Chance before walking off with the newsies.

AT THE DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Once we arrived, we all got in line to buy some papes. Once it was finally my turn, I slapped the money down and proudly asked, "150 papes, please!". Whoops and hollers erupted from my friends. I've been progressively making a name for myself around here. Today, I will be one of the most effective and feared newsie.

Meanwhile...

Narrator POV

"Come on Race! We has gotsta go!" Mush whined. "Race get youse lazy ass outta bed!" Kid blink said. "Hey, hey, hey... I got it boys. There's a few things Kris has taught me" Jack smirked.

Before Race had any time to process what Jack had said, he was already straddling him and tickling the living day lights out of him.

"He- hey! giggles* StOp! Wai- wheeze* HELP giggle*"

"ONLY IF YOU GET UP"

"Fi- wHeeZE FINE!"

Jack got up and wiped his hands off one another, proud of his work. Race on the other hand got up out of bed and walked over to the bathrooms. "Ise outta soak youse" he said. Jack just chuckled with the rest of the boys.

IN BROOKLYN

Ace POV

Ever since the absence of Kris, Spot has completely change for the worse. Yes, before Kris he was strict and had nothing else to occupy himself with, but he still cared for everyone and was involved. When he had Kris, he learned to be compassionate once more. But everything changed since she was gone.

He still believed she was out there. He still had hope. For the first year he would go out and look for her daily. "Her body isn't here so she is somewhere" he'd say to himself. The second year he would look for her once a week. The third year every so often. The fourth year he stopped looking. He would go the bridge with that note he found and sit there for hours. The fifth year, he completely shut everyone out.

He was cold. He was heart broken. He was depressed. He was gone..
