Chapter Fourteen

I wake up the next morning and prepare myself for my first day at work. I wake up three hours before I am supposed to leave to make to Bangor. I shower and then straighten my hair. God, I haven't done this in a while my hair is down to the middle of my back. I try my hardest not to think of what happened yesterday, but I can't stop. He lied to me. What else can I do but not trust him now. He met Connor. My mind keeps going to the worst. Hadin helped Connor find me. I get dressed in my black dress pants and green silk long sleeve shirt grabbing my black dress coat and heels I walk out of my room. I put my coat and shoes on the couch entering the kitchen, I put a bagel in the toaster and wait for the coffee to finish brewing. My phone vibrates in my pocket. I take it out seeing Hadin calling me. I take a breath and answer the phone call.

"Hi." I answer the phone.

"Hey. What are you doing today?" Hadin asks me.

"I'm starting my new job today." I tell him taking my bagel out of the toaster covering it with cream cheese.

"I thought you weren't starting that until after the wedding?" He questions.

"I was but she called and asked if I could start right away." I lie.

"Oh." He whispers then quiets down. "Do you want me to drive you?" he asks me.

"No. I'm fine driving myself." I answer him quick. Too quick.

"Sara, please don't do this. Don't push me away." Hadin pleads.

"I have to go. I'll talk to you later. Bye Hadin." I hang up the phone. Pouring my coffee putting in my creamer. I slip on my boots and grab my coat heading out the door. I walk to my Tahoe and drive off to work.

When I pull up to the building, I put my badge around my neck and enter inside, as I enter inside the building to see Todd Jensen sitting in the same spot that I first saw him only a few days ago.

"Hey Todd." I greet him.

"Oh, hey Sara." He smiles. "Starting already?" He asks. I smile and nod my head scanning my badge entering the back office. I walk down the hall and take a turn to my office. It's been decorated.

There is a brown rug in front of my door, the desk has been replaced with a brand new white oak desk with a white leather chair, Apple computer and printer sit on the desk hooked up, photos are hung on the wall of Ashlynn, Jace, Hadin, Raymond and Lilly. I grab the note on the table and smile.

Hey. I had to decorate this office for my girl. Love you! -Ash.

I take my phone out and call her right away. She answers after two rings. "So. I love what you did with my office." I tell her.

"Oh you saw it?!" She screams.

"It's beautiful. I love it!" I tell her.

"Great. I'm glad." Ashlynn says. "Sara." She starts in a new tone. "what happened with Hadin last night?" She asks.

"What do you mean?" I ask her.

"I mean he literally slept in his truck outside the apartment. When I came upstairs, I saw you asleep with a tear stained face and pillow." She tells me. "if you don't want to talk about it over the phone, I get it. We can have lunch." Ashlynn asks.

"Lunch sounds great. Can you meet at 1230?" I ask her.

"I'll be there. Love you." Ashlynn says.

"Love you." I reply as I hang up the phone. I sit at my new desk and open my computer. I have to set it up. New ID password and everything. I look over to my left to see a photo of Hadin and I at the club in Portland a few days ago. I smile seeing how happy I was in that moment. Why did he have to go and lie to me?! I was so happy with him and lies ruined it. I touch the photo with my fingers.
