Third person P.O.V

What did you do Paul? She wailed
Paul retorted back sharply " what I did is nothing concerning you"

"Paul I can't go to jail". Chantel started to cry

"Your not your going down "Paul sneered maliciously

Down where? she said

I heard her scream as he finally says  "down the stairs" he watched her tumble down two flights of stairs . Chantel's silently cried at the foot of the stairs. He came in kicked Alex a few times. before the wail of the approaching sirens started Paul.

Paul laughed maliciously As the sirens Approached. "I will see you again mouse" he said as He ran out of the apartment. Down the stairs passing poor Chantel's crippled body .she cried soundless as she raised her hand towards him for help. I never loved you to begin with you pathetic fool. You were only a pawn in my my scheme.Our time is over "he said dramatically as passed her.

There was a pool of blood or surrounding chantel as a scared neighbor ran out to help her. The wailing sirens got louder as the police officers approach . Paul ran into the empty street and hid in the shadows of the alley. As the the police cars came to a stop he smiled. His plan is turning out perfectly soon his revenge would be complete. But at what cost...

The beeping of the monitors and silent whispers filled the room. Gabe sat between the two beds. He seemed like he aged years only in a short time Lacey touched his hand . He jumped "she's awake"he declared.

Lacey's P.O.V

It all came flooding back. The attack ...the pain... the crumpled chantel on the bottom of the stairs. She remember wobbling down the stairs to find help for Alex. Each step a wave of nausea hit . I swallowed down the bile that rose in my throat as I seen her. Crumpled and alone. Even though she was horrible to me I wouldn't leave her by herself in this condition. I lifted her head and put it in my lap as the police officers and the ambulance came in through the double door. Before everything went black I begged the first police officer I seen to find Alex.

Gabe where's Alex my mouth felt as dry as a desert . His sad eyes told me everything I needed. " He is in surgery and Chantel is sedated .. "I didn't ask about the child I already knew the answers.

Paul attacked us at my apartment we know they're looking for as we speak . Now rest you the doctor says you will have swelling and but no bones broken. Your parents are besides themselves so I sent them home . You go home Gabe thank you for being such a great friend.

I so sorry for what my brother has done. I'm going burn my brothers desk his new one is to arrive any minute now. He said as he left me alone in the room. The most surprising thing happened . There was a note and wild flowers bouquet desides my bed.

I'm sorry for all I have done to you and alex. Please forgive me and thank you for staying with me ...when you didn't have to .

Chantel

Tears burned as the cascaded down my swollen face. Chantel actually had a heart after all. Lacey and Chantel is released days later as Chantel acted like nothing had taken place.

Lacey stayed by Alex side til he fully healed long grueling nights and endless days. Of cold coffee and amazing cafeteria food. The nurses gave him a small going away party on the day he got released by his doctor. Alex had to wear a leg brace til his bones were fully healed. He worked from his bed as Gabe took over all busniess deals. He looked at Lacey and smiled Gabe as of next week I relinquish my position to you . Your better qualified to do this position and it's your birth right even though miles didn't see it the way we do. Mom backs up decision . I will announce it publically once I am cleared by my doctor. Tears of joy streamed down Lacey's face. " your sure this is what you want?"

"Couldn't be happier my love. "He said as he caressed her face" what will you do now ?"
He laughed " Lacey I own half the gym with your dad so I .. was hoping to going to be a professional trainer with my girl.
I jumped at him as he clutch his hurt leg I guess Paul did us a favor. To finally push me in the direction I always wanted to go.

I was stunned in the now moths that we knew each other the conversation of a future together ever came up. I just assumed we were progressing at a steady pace. My heart warmed at the thought ..

"I'm sorry if your not ready to say that it's ok I'm not pushing you into it . I just wanted you to know how I feel about you this ordeal made me realize how precious life is and how I want you forever by my side." He said nervously .

Alex I have very strong feeling for you that is for sure. I'm not ready to say it backstage this point. It's a big step .. plus my ex. Tried to kill you so.. I'm at an emotional time ..

He kissed my head as I snuggled into his embrace. "I will love you for the both of us until your ready."
