Chapter:11

Lacey's P.O.V

She would only come to this restaraunt when her father would come home from matches or recruiting . It felt strange going here without them . We always sat in the Corner next to the big bay windows. The stain glass windows would cast beautiful colors upon the table cloth as they sat there as a family. Talking and laughing as dad told elaborate stories of his travels.

They were seated on the other side of the restaurant where private parties are held at. Alex put his hand upon the small of her back .it sent tingles down her skin as he introduced her to the connors the owners of  Maximus publishing . They wanted to merge their companies  together .  Zander was tired of Lexington publishing so he wanted Stephan Connor to run it for him he wanted to be a silent investor instead of ceo. He already ceo of two businesses it was starting to take a tole upon him.
  James took the seat by victoria ."hi honey what I miss?" Everyone laughed . Soo James is the comic relief in this situation. He introduced Victoria as " my lovely" . Awh! It was cute.  she shot him daggers but he just smiled.

The dinner was winding down all the poliminaries were taken care of . It was a delightful ordeal til James excused himself taking Alex with him. I went to the powder room. As passing there heated conversation   James:you have to tell her
Zander: it's my job to protect her
James : tell her! She's gonna find out it's leaked all over social media . Poor girl didnt sign up for this.
Zander : I can't lacey

I came from behind the corner " what can't you tell me?"glaring at both of them "Lacey baby"

"Don't baby me Alexander John Gage !"as I put my hands upon my hips.

Lacey ,flower, the media found out your name but... someone leaked pictures of you in a personal nature . .

Well... James handed his phone my world shattered . Paul promised he burnt theses when we broke up.

I gave it back I know who done this. My ex Paul had these intimate pics when I use to fight . He took them in the shower. I swear I will kill him.

"I have my guys working on this as we speak. I'm so sorry I pulled u into this. "Alex said as he was rubbing his neck.
Do the connors  know?
No..

Then let's go in and finish this dinner .
This was my worst fear in real life but it only got worse .

Zander's P.O.V

Three..
Deep breaths

I felt horrible that I dragged Lacey into all of this. I was so stupid that she wouldn't be affected by this life. She so innocent to the cruelty of my world can bring.

I don't deserve her.. her father was right .

As I sat there feeling sorry for myself I didn't take into consideration the ramifications of this   Situation and my next actions.
Stephan connors asked me " So Gage where do you see yourself in five years?"

I stood up and announced Lacey and I are engaged so maybe a family .

Her shocked expression as I took her hand and kissed it. She smiled at me " Alex dear ,we didn't want to let everyone know til the banquet !"

James laughed Victoria gave him a glare and he abruptly stopped. She mouthed the words sorry to Lacey as . Tadeo came into the room
" lacey I need to talk to you a moment.
I'm sorry to interrupt ."

I crushed my napkin as he took her wrist and lead her to the door

Mrs. Connor asked when is the lucky date? 
Tadeo stopped at the door to hear my response in two weeks we want a small wedding.  Tadeo whispers something in her ear . My heart sank seeing the sadness in Lacey's eyes .

"I am so sorry there has been a family emergency I must attend". She rushed out with Victoria upon her heels . I shook their hands as me and james followed them to the entrance I caught Lacey hand she had tears in her eyes and in a shaky voice said my dad is in the hospital.

Everything went still . As we climbed into the limo we told David my driver to follow the cab. When we got there I unloosened my tie and shirt as we climbed the stairs to hospital . At the reception desk I'm here for billy miller. No billy miller is he under another name. Think ..think. James smiles what about
William Miller.

The pretty nurse behind the counter smiled he's in room 302. We thanked her as we got closer to see tadeo holding Lacey as she cried upon his shoulder .

Victoria came up to us "well that was a great dinner, airhead. Why
Didn't you give us a heads up before you dropped that bomb on us? Were you even thinking before you got liquid diarrhea of the mouth?"

I just stood there like a fish out of water mouth opening and closing. This woman had no filter .. bold Victoria . I thought it would make everything better. Better ! Lacey was dumped by an controlling a$$hole who made her decision for her. Your no better than him . I hope she dumps for this.

The doctor came out it wasn't a heart attack it's more of a stress attack . It has the same symptoms. He's gonna have to rest and especially no fighting til he can see his acting physician in two weeks. Thank you as the doctor existed the lobby area.
