Yue is sitting in her classroom unable to concentrate. For the first time in years, He Di greeted her when they bumped into each other in the corridor. He smiled at her with that sunshine smile of his, she used to adore so much, and it has made her heart flutter. Be strong, she tells herself, otherwise she will not survive tutoring him every day for the next three months. She barely glanced at him and mumbled a hello in response, and now she feels bad, as she thinks back on it. However it's not long before her mind turns towards the dark corner, where their friendship lies in tatters.
Flashback
2012
Yue is very happy, sitting in her bedroom with her favourite cousin Li Jia Qi. Jia is 14 years old, just like Yue, and is visiting from London, where she lives with her parents. They have not seen each other in 6 years, but they have been pen pals the entire time apart. Jia seems rather worldly to Yue, as she sings along to her English pop songs. They are having a slumber party, just the two of them, in their pyjamas, with snacks everywhere, and Jia putting lipstick on Yue's lips.
"This colour looks gorgeous on you babe. Here, keep it, for when you are allowed to start wearing makeup."
"Really are you sure?"
"Of course my darling. It was made for you."
They both giggle, enjoying their girly fun.
"Yueyue, who do you have a crush on?"
"Huh?"
"Are you still paying husband and wife with He Di? How is the brat, is he still gobbling up all of your time?"
"Husband and wife? We are ju...just friends." Yue stutters, blushing furiously.
Jia smiles knowingly and says,
"Hmm just friends, but you lurrrve him don't ya!'"She teases.
"No!"
"Are you sure? Cos he lurrrves you!"
"What, no, you are being silly.'' Yue giggles, feeling warm inside at this information.
"Fine, don't believe me." Shrugs Jia.
There is a knock on the door, prompting Yue to shout,
"Go away Xiao Li, you can't play with us!"
The door opens regardless, and in bounds He Di. He smiles sweetly at Yue, before scowling at Jia.
"Oh you are still here.'"He turns to pout at Yue and whines, "Why can't I be part of your slumber party? We always used to have slumbers parties, just the two of us!"
