He Di's eyes flutter open and he finds Yue staring at him with her big brown orbs. She is in a sitting position, looking down at him with her arm on his pillow, just above his head, running her fingers through his hair, while her other hand is gently caressing her belly. A sweet smile adorns her lips as she gazes at his face, causing him to automatically break out into a huge grin. He stretches his hand up to her cheek, and pinches it cutely. She lets out a deliciously happy squeal.
"Morning beautiful." He says, in raspy voice.
"Morning handsome." She purrs.
There is a silence, and Yue continues smiling at him, staring intently now, making He Di feel a little shy.
"What...What are you thinking Baby?"
"I'm thinking.... how.... timeless, you are." She answers, in a soothing tone.
He Di's heart squeezes with warmth, as he basks in her words. It's little moments like these, which make him extremely thankful for the life he has. This woman... this woman whom he has known his entire life, still makes his heart beat fast, whenever she compliments him so unreservedly. Her commitment to speaking love into the room, is so constant and unfailing, that it has resulted in their family living and operating from a space of generosity, as opposed to scarcity. And this mindset, has the natural effect of enhancing their life experience together, because they are so appreciative of each other, in an active and tangible way.
He Di pulls her down, making her lie next to him, and then proceeds to hug her.
"That's because you breathe life into me, every single day." He whispers, his lips pressed against the side of her head.
"Aw...you are so cute...you are going to make me cry." She chuckles, her voice a little emotional.
He snuggles her even closer to him, and strokes her back up and down, saying nothing. They lie like that for a few minutes, entangled in each other, just being present in the moment, and listening to each other breathe.
An alarm goes off, Yue makes to get up, but He Di grips her tighter.
"No...stay." He says softly.
"We have to get up Baby."
"But why?"
"Because we have all these guests who are going to need a good breakfast, then we have to continue prepping for the party later...which reminds me, did you check with the bakery yesterday, that our cake is ready?"
"Yes I did, it will arrive at noon."
"Good, cos that's how we are going to find out the sex of the baby."
"I know, I know Baby." He replies, smiling indulgently at her.
She has been so adorable in her excitement of cake colour inside, revealing the gender.
