Yue looks around the living room feeling bittersweet. This place has been her home for more than two years and she will definitely miss it, but she is excited about the next adventure. She and He Di have decided to move back to China. She has accepted a job at Beijing Hospital, and He Di will be joining the Beijing Ducks. Professionally, they have been thriving in the States, but both of them have been so home sick, missing their families, and life in China.
She is packing up some boxes, while He Di is taking a shower. They will be meeting Jia and Xi Ze for lunch in a short while. Jia moved to Boston a year ago, and she and Xi Ze have been going strong. The four of them have been close knit, spending a lot of their free time together. She will miss the couple trips that they have taken, visiting different states.
As she seals a box closed with masking tape, she reflects on her life here, with He Di. When she first arrived, she discovered that his nightmares had started up again.
Flashback 2020
It is the middle of the night when Yue is woken up by a strange sound. It takes her few seconds to get her bearings. She turns to face He Di when she realizes that the noise is coming from him. He is asleep but he is crying, and saying something that is incoherent at first, until,
"Yue, don't leave."
Yue's heart thuds painfully, when she hears this. She tries to wake him up, shaking him gently.
"He Di, wake up."
"Yue, where are you? Don't leave me pleeeeease!"
"Baby, I'm right here. Wake up baby." She shakes him again.
"Yueeeee!"
She shakes him harder and finally he wakes up.
"What...Where...Yue?"
"Yes, I'm here Baby. I'm right here."
"I thought...I thought you were gone." He says, hugging her tightly, filled with relief.
''I'm not going anyway Baby, I'm right here...I'm right here. Shh Baby don't cry. I won't leave you."
She moves his head from her neck, to her face, and kisses him intensely. When they pull apart, she removes her night shirt, presses his face in her breasts, and immediately he suckles on them like a baby. They proceed to make love after that, and he falls asleep soundly for the rest of the night.
For a whole month, there will be nights where she is woken up by his cries, and she will make love to him, to soothe him, to reassure him, to make him feel all of her, in that moment. No one is more important to her than He Di, and she will do whatever she can, to help him heal from the trauma of her leaving him before.
