He Di is on his way to visit Zi Wei at her university campus, which he and Yue also plan to attend next year. The university is 3 hours away by speed train, making it just far enough from home, but not too far to visit often. He looks out the train window and thinks of Yue. The last two years with her have been so amazing, he sometimes can't believe how good his life is. Yue is the most precious girlfriend who is so caring and thoughtful. If he thought Yue as a friend was his world, Yue as a girlfriend is his entire universe. There is nothing he won't do for her, and he spends every day showing her his love for her.
Today is Friday and the last few days have been extremely hard on He Di. Ever since they started dating, they have spent every single day together, but being the exceptional student that she is, she is currently away on a school trip with the Science team. She has been gone for 4 days and she will only be back on Sunday. He Di is going crazy without her, it's his 18th birthday tomorrow, and they are both bummed that she is going to miss it.
Zi Wei has invited him over for the weekend, and has decided to throw him a party tomorrow, now that he has resumed celebrating his birthdays. Two years ago Yue absolutely forbade him to cancel his future birthdays, which is why he has agreed to go, when he would much rather wait for Yue to come home. Seeing her house is reassuring to him.
It is early evening when He Di finally arrives at Zi Wei's off campus apartment. He punches in the pass code, as she has told him in advance that she will not be home to greet him, because of a project deadline, but he must make himself at home, and she will see him later. When he steps through the door, there is a delicious smell coming from the kitchen. Maybe Zi Wei finished earlier than she thought she would.
"Zi Wei! Are you back?"
There is no response, but he doesn't think anything of it, she sometimes cooks with earphones on. He puts his bag down in the hallway and heads over to the kitchen.
When he opens the door, He Di is blown away by what's in front him. Yue is standing by the table, which she has decorated in a romantic way. There are petals and candles everywhere, bathing the kitchen in a warm glow. She has prepared his favourite dishes and the spread looks eye watering, but what has taken He Di's breathe away the most, is Yue. She is a vision in a lace white dress that he has never seen before.
