Hey, just popping in to warn you that this is where things start to get a bit more hectic and rushed. Because of the sheer amount of things that need to be established I had to just quickly gloss over a lot. There is no way to write this where I can fully explain everything. If you have questions please ask.
(Zane's POV)
I really hope Luna gets here soon. She could fix this. Lucinda was currently using both mine and Kim's energy to try and revive Aphmau. It didn't look like it was working. Just then I heard a whizzing sound to my right and saw Luna appearing with a man that looked strangely familiar. I didn't care. When she saw what Lucinda was in the middle of she looked furious.
(Luna's POV)
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?!?" I yelled at them. Lucinda was startled by me and stopped chanting. I safely stopped the spell and looked at Zane. "Explain."
Instead he walked forward and hugged me. I felt my other shoulder become wet with tears. A look of concern came across my face as I wrapped my arms around him and started slowly rocking him. After a few seconds he finally looked at me and silently pleaded me to help. I had already seen Aph's body on the floor.
"I'm sorry Zane. But you know I can't save anyone this far gone. I only know one person who can." I closed my eyes and sent a silent prayer to Irene.
At my words, Zane backed away, "Who? Where are they?"
I opened my mouth to speak but Laurence spoke for me, "Irene, but Luna, we haven't spoken to her in years. She's gone completely silent."
I looked at Laurence, "That's not completely true. It's only been about a year, ever since the lodge incident. And we know why she's gone silent. For now we can only hope."
Lucinda looked kinda mad and really disappointed, "Hope won't get us anywhere. You said that you had contact with her up until the lodge."
I looked at her confused as to where this was going, "Yes that is exactly what Laurence and I said."
Zane looked at Laurence surprised, "Wait, Laurence?"
Laurence who had gone to Aph's side looked over, "Yo."
Lucinda registered this and continued on with the conversation, "So at one point you were able to contact her."
I was beyond confused at this point, "Yes. Where are you going with this?"
Kim interjected, "Wait earlier you spoke about the lodge. Do you guys know what happened?"
I smiled at her, "I do. Laurence doesn't know all of what happened but I'm sure he has theories. He was just brought up to speed on the situation. Plus I work-" I cut myself off and corrected myself. "worked for Darek."
Zane, who had already backed up to sit in the back of the couch near Lucinda and Kim, looked really confused. "Wait. Did you guys quit?"
I swallowed hard and felt strong arms wrap around me. Laurence knew I was about to cry. Irene I love this man. As tears filled my eyes, I looked to Zane.
Unable to form words I instead mindlinked everyone in the room. 'It has come to our attention that Darek is no longer with us.'
As I finished that thought I cut it off and buried my head in Laurence's chest and started to cry. I felt someone walk over and place and hand on my back. Probably Zane. I barely even noticed that Laurence had sat down. Me still cuddled to him as I cried. Then the first person spoke up.
"What kind of magic was that? And why-" Lucinda.
Zane's voice cut her off, "Mindlinking. Normally you have to have a really strong bond with someone for it to work but Luna is extremely skilled in magic."
I felt Laurence's chest vibrate as he spoke next, "As for the question you were about to ask. Luna had become very close to the Lycan's. They're the closest thing she has to a family."
I started to regain myself a bit so I kinda sat up. I wiped away my tears and saw Zane curious as to when I had grown so close to Laurence but also really concerned for my well-being. I smiled at him then turned to the rest of the room preparing to ask what was going on when we heard coughing. We looked over towards Aphmau who, literally a second ago, was a corpse on the ground. I stared in shock.
Then I heard a voice that I hadn't heard in a long time. 'Take care of her Luna.'
Tears weld in my eyes, knowing what this meant. Irene had faded.
I spoke aloud knowing that I couldn't mindlink Irene. "I will. Thank you Irene."
Everyone stared at me in shock.Longer chapter, who dis? Have an amazing day/night!
