Me and Lunar quickly drank our coffee as we thought about what the day would bring. At some point Garroth came in and was pretty much as confused as Aphmau was. We gave them some half-assed explanation as to why we had strange drinks and they just shrugged it off while Laurence was trying to contain his laughter. Once we finished the coffee I handed the energy drinks to Laurence, we'd need them after the spell.
Lunar let out a sigh, "Ready?"
I nodded and Laurence wrapped an arms around me, "Be safe. Well, as safe as possible."
I smiled and nuzzled into his embrace. "We will be."
Lunar smirked, "Yeah, we're dumb but responsible."
I chuckled, "Not the best way to say that but okay."
Both Garroth and Aphmau looked mortified from Lunar's comment but the two of us locked eyes. No unnecessary risks. We were truly the unlikeliest of friends. A sociopathic daughter of a Lord and a mom-friend orphan.
After taking in Laurence's warmth for a few moments more I stood, "Alright, it's now or never."
Lunar nodded, hoping up as well. "Let's do this!"
We decided that we'd go to the hole were Aaron blew up Zane to do the spell. After instructing everyone to stay out of the hole, me and Lunar made our way down to the center. I stood facing Phoenix Drop while she had her back to it. The two of us joined hands in the middle and started pooling our energy. We had open minds to the other, filled with concerned thoughts for our friends. We closed our eyes and created an image of a compass that would lead us directly to Scarlet. Scar was the more responsible one and wouldn't let Violet out of her sight especially knowing that we can't track them. As our energy pooled we began to feel the smooth netherite forming between our fingers. Slowly but surely our hands got pulled apart as a bubble of energy formed in between them. It got bigger until stopping at a decent, maintainable size. We didn't need to open our eyes to know that there was something forming in the bubble. The process was slow but at some point we crossed the point of no return. If either of us hesitates or falters this whole thing would backfire. Pooling more energy than necessary into the middle, we focused on the task at hand. Unfortunately, a set of footsteps shifted our focus away for half a second and everything went haywire. Me and Lunar were thrown backwards, me hitting a small makeshift wall that immediately crumpled on top of me. Knowing that we couldn't stop the spell now, I continued to pool an excess amount of energy into the middle. I could tell that Lunar was doing the same.
Through the ringing in my ears I could hear rushed footsteps coming closer so I yelled out, "Stop!"
The footsteps immediately stopped and I continued to pool my energy into the middle, blocking out the anxious thoughts that started invading my mind. The spell had almost been complete so all we had to do was hang on a little while longer. That would be no easy task as I felt blood start to tickle down my face and the back of my head. Nevertheless, we had to push forward and complete the spell. As the last bit of magical energy left my body the spell finished a clang was heard from the center of the pit. Footsteps rushed towards me and Lunar. I didn't get to open my eyes before arms engulfed me a energy surged through my body. Laurence. I couldn't tell who was taking care of Lunar but she should have figured out that I planned on pooling all my energy and withdrawn some of hers. I gripped Laurence's shirt, trying to express my concern for Lunar. Unfortunately, he was worse at taking hints than previously thought. He pulled slightly away and handed me an energy drink, I could only assume that he gave the other to someone else to give to Lunar since I only saw one. I smiled at him and took it, opening it and taking a sip before nodding in the direction of Lunar. This time he took the hint, helping me up and basically carried me over towards her. I guess she took the hint last minute cause she looked like shit. She was badly cut up from the backlash of the spell. I gripped Laurence's shoulder, asking permission to take more energy from him. I had to get someone to help Lunar. He started shifting energy to me as I started chugging the drink. It was almost done as I stopped drinking. My energy was still extremely depleted but I had just enough to send an S.O.S. to the guardians. My hope is that Shadow would come but something told me that it would be an alternate me or Lunar that came. I slumped over at Lunar's side. It might be a while before someone comes since there is a slight time difference. Laurence sat down for me to lean on. I saw Laurence take Lunar's hand out of the corner of my eye. I knew he was transferring some energy to her so I wasn't jealous. I leaned against Laurence and shut my eyes. My eyes were still ringing from the backlash of the spell. I could tell there were people around us but I really didn't care. I was exhausted and could barely think straight. Eventually the ringing in my ears subsided and I could hear the concerned voices around me. I sighed and opened my eyes. Immediately people started swarming us so I glared. I couldn't quite make out who it was because of the lighting. I didn't want to talk, the spell drained too much out of me and Lunar. I re-shut my eyes. I'd deal with people later.I had to rewrite this chapter. Twice. I hate everything. Wattpad decided that they just weren't going to save the chapter so if it feels a bit off I'm sorry, it was much better the first two times.
