POV: Dani
Turning around from my spot by the bookshelf, I feel my heart drop when I don't see Faolan where I left him on the living room rug. "Jorden, do you have the baby?" I shout desperately as the panic begins to settle. "Found him." I hear Jorden call from the hallway. The feeling of dread lifts off of my chest and I make my way around the corner to see Jorden standing at the entrance of the office with a crawling Faolan making his way to his father.
"He's crawling now Dani." Jorden takes his eyes of our son to look at me with a mega-watt smile plastered on his face. "My little man is growing up so fast." He coos while squatting down to pick up Faolan who had just arrived at his feet. Faolan giggles as Jorden throws him up into the air before catching him and blowing raspberries on to Faolan's exposed stomach.
"We are going to have to baby proof the suite now." Jorden says while scratching his head, Faolan sucking on his knuckles in the crook of Jorden's arm. "He's only seven months old, he is too young to be crawling right?" The words fly out of my mouth in a panic. "Little Rosie wasn't crawling at seven months." I say referring to Rowan and Axl's little girl. I run my hands roughly through my hair only to see Jorden shaking in silent laughter. "Jorden," I yell frustrated. "Stop laughing at me there is nothing funny about our son being some kind of mutant." Jorden tries to stifle his chuckles when he sees the tears falling steadily down my face.
"Dani every baby progresses at different rates. Rosie wasn't ready to crawl at seven months but our little man is." He smiles once again at our son before kissing his forehead. "Come here." He opens his arm for me allowing me to slip into his comforting embrace. "Everything is ok Dani I promise, Faolan isn't a mutant he is just ready to be moving. You have to remember whose blood is running through his veins." I sigh when I realize he is right.
Although he had the ability to remain focused for an extended amount of time, Cole lived a fast paced life and was seldom sitting still. Between the many hours of training and war plans, the only downtime he really had was when I was in arms. Jorden too, has always struggled with sitting still. I still laugh at the memory of him spinning around in the office chair, or kicking the back of Cole's seat as we drove. However childish he may have been, Jorden was always able to rein it all in when the time came for him to be serious.
"I'll have some people go out and buy stuff for the baby proofing and then I can have them install it all," Jorden suggests quietly, bringing my mind back to the present. "Or we could install it, no big deal either way." He pauses to remove his hand from my shoulder to run it through the scruff of his morning stubble. "For now, we just need to keep an eye on this little one so he doesn't you know, cut open his eyeball or get electrocuted."
"Jorden, don't even joke about stuff like that!" I whisper yell while hitting him on the arm that is not holding our baby. He pouts as I take Faolan out of his arms. "Faolan and I will go spend the day with Rowan and Rosie while you and your 'people' baby proof the floor." Jorden sticks his tongue out at me but smiles when I kiss his lips. "Fine take the baby and go have fun with your friend while I am stuck here doing all the hard labor." He chuckles at his own sarcastic comment as I make my way towards the stairs. "Don't get electrocuted or you know, cut your eyeball." I mock causing him to let loose a fully belly laugh. "God I love you woman." I hear him say as I continue my way down the stairs to Rowan and Axl's room.
"So..." My blonde haired best friend begins from her position on her bed. "Tell me everything." "What do you mean?" I question while taking a second to look away from where Rosie and Faolan are playing with blocks on the floor. Rowan sighs dramatically and rolls her eyes.
