POV: Dani
Waking up, I frown confused when my eyes settle on the illuminated clock by my bedside. Its flashing red numbers alert me that it is half past eight in the morning. Gasping, I quickly fly out of the bed and into the hallway towards Faolan's room. Jorden and I transferred him into his own room when he turned four months old a few weeks ago. With that being said however, he still doesn't sleep through the night; I typically get up with him around one to feed him and then again at 6:30 when he wakes up for the day. Which means, not only did I miss his feeding last night, but it is now 8:30, two hours past when he usually wakes up.
Sliding to a stop in front of Faolan's door, I stick my head into the light green room only to see no baby in the crib. My heart drops until I hear giggles and baby talk coming from down the hall; the office. Smiling in relief, I realize exactly what happened, Jorden woke up with him.
Quietly, I make my way down the hallway and towards the office where I know my two men will be. Opening the door silently to not alert them, I stick my head in and mentally awe at the sight before me. Jorden is seated at the rolling chair behind the desk with Faolan planted firmly on his lap while he bounces him around and speaks to him in his baby voice.
"You know Faolan, your mama and I, we didn't have the best of childhoods; your mama more than me. But you Sir," He stops for a moment to tickle Faolan's stomach causing another set of giggles to erupt from the baby. "You are going to grow up and know just how loved you are. You will have a lot of people relying on you little man, no matter what you decide, but you will have them to rely on them as well and that is important to remember." I can't help but feel like my heart is about to burst upon witnessing the exchange. Catching me off guard, Jorden address me without even taking his eyes off of the baby.
"You don't have to hide behind the door Dani," He smirks, "You can come in." "How did you know?" I mumble while opening up the door and fully entering the room. "I am a werewolf Dani, I have heightened hearing and smell." I blush at his explanation as it is something I should have pieced together myself. Nonetheless, I take a seat in the chair across from the desk before reaching for Faolan.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I ask while kissing my baby's soft cheeks. Jorden smiles at us as he responds, "You looked so peaceful, so tired, I didn't want to disturb you so I just took care of him." "Thank you." I grin while leaning over the desk to peck his lips. Jorden's eyes twinkle as I pull away and an air of shyness emits from him. "Don't worry about it Dani, he's my son too and it's my duty as a father to take care of him as well." Surprisingly, his words warm my heart and I remain still waiting for him to continue. Sensing this, Jorden begins to give me a rundown of the morning.
"I gave him a bottle at around uh, 1:15 I think and then again when he woke up at 6:33. I just changed his diaper about," He pauses to glance at his watch, "17 minutes ago I believe." My heart warms and a grin appears on my face to match the one on my son's. "You're amazing Jorden, I am so thankful you're here." He grins at me before opening his arms for a hug. Instantly, I stand up and walk around the edge of the desk to return the gesture.
"I'll always be here Dani, I'll never leave you, either of you." I close my eyes and bask in his warmth and comfort if only for a few moments before Faolan begins to kick and squirm unhappily from being stuck in the middle. With a chuckle, Jorden pulls away and sits back down at the desk. With a light smile, I return my attention to Faolan who has decided that pulling my hair is his new favorite form of entertainment.
"I will go change him out of his pajamas, do we have any plans for today?" I say quietly as Jorden looks down at his computer, I assume he is scanning over his calendar. "Actually yes," He speaks after a few moments of my tickling Faolan to make him laugh. "Lydia will be here at 10 for his four month pictures. I hope you don't mind I scheduled them, she called and wanted to know when we wanted her to come in again." His hands rub his neck nervously just like Cole used to, well sometimes, Cole was more into running his hands through that shaggy blonde hair of his.
"Don't stress Jorden," I soothe once my head had cleared. "I'm fine with her coming today. We want the pictures right, she took his newborn pictures and every month after that; no big deal." I walk forwards to gently squeeze his arm reassuringly before turning back to the office door. "I'll go fish out his album from the shelf and dress him all cute." Jorden smiles at me when he sees the happiness shining in my eyes. "Ok, you do that Dani, I just have a little bit more paperwork to finish up and then I'll join you." He walks around the desk to place a kiss on Faolan's forehead and my lips before returning to the office chair and continuing his work.
"Smile Faolan," I coo while rattling his favorite toy keys behind the camera as Lydia takes the shots. Lydia and I worked together to set up a nice white canvas backdrop in the living room on the Alpha's floor. She has scattered some things around to act ask props and Faolan is seated smack down in the middle of it with his blonde hair combed back and his nice blue collared shirt on. He's chewing on his hand, but he is so cute nonetheless. His eyes are still primarily blue, but they are starting to darken and just the thought of him having brown eyes sends my heart and head into a frenzy.
We continue like this for a while until Lydia calls an end to our mini photoshoot. "Luna, I will have these pictures ready for you in about a week's time." "Thank you Lydia." I respond with a smile as I watch her head towards the elevator leading to the other floors of the packhouse.
"Come on Little Man." I call while scooping Faolan up into my arms, "Lets feed you lunch." His little cheeks begin to turn redder and his eyes begin to glisten and I know he is about to cry out, his way of telling me he is hungry. Sitting down on the couch before he has the opportunity to scream out, I pull down my shirt and bra and guide him towards latching on.
A few minutes later, I can hear rustling in the shoe cabinet. "Jorden?" I call. He sighs alerting me of his presence before he comes around the corner and into my view. "Are you going somewhere?" I ask curiously. He looks down, not meeting my eye before looking up with a hardened expression. "Something came up and I got to go, don't worry about it. I'll be home for dinner. Dad said he wanted to come up and spend some time with all of us." He kisses Faolan's forehead and my lips before shuffling his way back around the corner to get his shoes before trudging down the stairs; leaving me feeling more confused than ever.
Question of the Day: Where do you think Jorden is going?
