POV: Cole
"You scared boy!" I hear from outside my room. Hearing a whimper next, it doesn't take me long to figure out the situation. Running my hands down my face in frustration, I allow my hard ass Alpha front to take over my features before I stalk out of my room and towards the voices.
What I see next, has my blood boiling and anger pulsating through my veins. "Step back." I command, my voice stern and intimidating. The teenager flinches, but Nolan just turns to look at me with a sneer. "You think just because you dominate the arena you can tell all of us what to do? Huh Abbadon?" Clenching my teeth at his blatant disrespect, I open my mouth to respond.
"You know just what I can do to you Nolan, you said so yourself, I dominate the arena. Not Simon, not George, not Mark and it sure as hell isn't you. I didn't choose my name, you all gave it to me for a reason. A reason I am not afraid to show you. Now I suggest you put the boy down and walk away, I will not ask as twice." The other men wince at my venomous tone and instantly begin to move away from the circle however, I can tell Nolan isn't as eager to not get on my bad side. Wasting no time in stalking forwards and holstering him up by the collar of his shirt, I show him exactly why I am Abaddon, exactly why I was one of the most feared Alphas in the land of the living.
"Tell me Nolan," I whisper in his ear for only him to hear once I have him thrown up against the wall, "When did you die?" He swallows before informing me that it was only a few years ago. "A few years hmm... then I suggest you remember just who I am. Tell me, you remember the Blood Moon pack? You've heard the horror stories of their Alpha correct?" Nolan's face pales as it dawns on him. "You know how his father had singlehandedly taken out the majority of the hunter population and you know his son was not afraid to slaughter any man who chose to stand in his path." The man begins to shake but that doesn't deter me from continuing my speech.
"You'd say wouldn't you Nolan that the Richards were a family you wouldn't want to mess with right?" The man only pathetically nods his eyes growing with terror. "You remember the stories of the lupi silenziosi don't you? The horror stories every mother told her pups, the nightmare of our kind, the killer group of wolves who at night tormented and murdered the innocent. Let me tell you a little secret," I whisper quieter, leaning impossibly closer to the man. "Those men, although they have been painted as evil spirits, are the protectors of the wolves. They hunted the enemy and only slaughtered those who truly had the evil souls. They killed the rapists, the Hunters, the scum who ran the illegal wolf rings." My grip tightens, and my fingers begin to itch to kill.
"The honor of leading that elite team was always given to an Alpha with royal blood, and let me just inform you Nolan, I am that Alpha. I was chosen by the Moon Goddess on my 16th birthday to become the warrior who protects our species. Without us, wolves would be living a world of terror and science." For the first time since I began to talk, Nolan begins to struggle in my grasp.
"B-but, b-but you are supposed to be evil; you slaughter the innocent." I laugh in a way that has the poor man shaking in fear once again. "Oh Nolan, that's just what we want you to think." "We must remain hidden, a secret to others. We couldn't just let you know our true intentions now could we? We had to remain the protectors in the shadows as it is in our code. Only the best of the best have the honor of holding this position, therefore," I drawl out. "I must be pretty damn good to lead them now isn't that right?" The man begins to shake violently in my grasp and I sigh. "Now that you know my secret, and the true intentions behind the lupi silenziosi I guess I can't let you live." His eyes widen even more at the realization of his impending future, but I don't waste a moment before I snap his neck.
When I was 16 and was approached by the Moon Goddess, I thought it was a joke. I as well had grown up hearing the horror stories of the group. However, she made me understand the honor and prestige that goes along with being in the group. She explained to me the true intentions and why we must remain secret and allow others to believe the rumors and stories. The Moon Goddess enlightened me as to why our elite group of warriors was essential for wolf survival. Without us ridding those who threaten our existence, we would all be killed or sold to become some lab rats.
Therefore, I upped my training and met my team. We hunted the evil in the dead of the night and it was our little secret; as instructed by the Goddess. No one knew about this side of me, not Dani, Jorden, Nona, Grandad, nobody; nobody but my team. We would raid the orphanages that sold our children off to the labs. We would slaughter the illegal wolf rings that made us fight for the entertainment of humans. We killed of those deserving of death and never the innocent. We, all of us, truly are nothing but good Samaritans.
Dropping his dead body to the ground, I step over it and kneel in front of the boy who is shaking on the ground. "Come on." I grab his hand and help him up despite his obvious fear of me. Leading him past the shocked and frightened faces I push my curtain to the side and usher him into my room.
"What's your name?" I ask him gently. He responds to me only when his shaking begins to calm down, "James." I smile and pat the boy's shoulder, "Well James," I begin while sitting down on my battered mattress. "I don't know how you ended up here, but if you want to stay be warned, you are going to be in for one hell of a long fight. My name's Cole, but people here call me Abbadon so keep it to yourself. I'll protect you while you're here; that's a promise, and I always keep my promises." I couldn't have said truer words, I made a promise to Dani, and I will keep it.
